N o t e . The above Mean Places of the Stars of Comparison have been obtained in a number of cases from the ob-

servations of this comet already published in the A. N. by various observers and the remainder by means of comparisons with neighbourinq known stars. Although not altogether satisfactory it is believed that this method ensures a tolerably close approximation, and that it is to be preferred to the publication of partially reduced observations.
