The announcement was made in the A. N. 169.11 I by Professor Ceraski that the star whose position is RA. 4h48m34', Decl. +80D 5!8 (1900) is a variable of the Algol type. A careful watch has been kept of it by Mr. L. Campbell which showed that it was faint on the evenings of Sept. I, 14, and Oct. 2 1 , 1905. A period of 12.5 days is thus indicated.

The range of this star is about 1.7 magn. and for four or five hours it remains at nearly constant minimum bright- ness. It will be noticed that the period 12d42 is longer than

J. PaZisa.

From an examination by hlrs . Fleming of the photographs taken with the Cooke Anastigmat, it appears that the minima are nearly represented by the formula, J.D. 241001 1.4+12.42E. It may accordingly be expected to be faint on the dates given below :

that of any Algol star as yet discovered except UZ Cygni, 215543, which has a period of 31d304. The next longest period is S Cancri, 083819, period 9d485.
