By air:Germany’s second largest hub for inexpensive flights is just a 3 minute walk from the east entrance of the new Stuttgart Exhibition Centre. Non-stop flights to 112 destinations in 34 coun-tries are available from the Stuttgart International Airport. As a result, one-day visits from distant European locations are also worthwhile.

Public transportation:The exhibition centre can be reached by bus or rapid-transit railway. Stuttgart is linked to 13 European capital cities via the railway net-work (intercity express, intercity, and regional express lines). Take rapid transit line S2 or S3 from Stuttgart Central Station to “Stuttgart Flug-hafen/Neue Messe Stuttgart” (airport/exhibition centre). Entlang der gesamten Prozess-kette – von der Projektierung über die Konstruktion, von der Beschaffung, Montage bis hin zur Inbetriebnahme und zum Service an der Maschine – sind mechatro-nische Schnittstellen kaschiert, die ein Verbesserungspotenzial bergen. Machinery manufacturers and their suppliers will demonstrate their expertise in the field of mechatronics by means of a special show in pavilion 1, booth 1301. The objective of the show is to put the issue of “Understand-ing Mechatronics” into concrete terms with regard to mecha-tronic project engineering as an important aspect for design engineers, as well as for mana-gers. In particular cost-oriented optimisation of systems and equipment can be implemented in an ideal fashion with the help of mechatronic structures within the company, and in interaction with the customer. As part of the special show, demonstrations

will provide living examples which elucidate how machinery manu-facturers have implemented the concept of mechatronics in hand-ling and assembly technology.

Throughout the entire process sequence – from project to design engineering and procure-ment, right on up to assembly, initial start-up and service at the machine – mechatronic interfaces are covered which harbour signi-ficant potential for improvement. Understanding these interfaces, redefining them and implementing them within the new process is a long path, for which signposts are provided at this special show.
