Modernization Shipunloader
The EECV operates one of the largest and latest bulk
terminals in Europe based in the Europoort area of the
port of Rotterdam. Shareholders are ThyssenKrupp
Steel Europe AG and HKM. Around 30 million tones of
iron ore and coal are handled annually at 100 acre site.
Mainpart of the discharge equipment are grab
unloaders.
For one of these 60 ton grab unloaders Actemium
Fördertechnik Rheinland GmbH planned, delivered
commissioned new electrical equipment.
Actemium renewed:
• MV-transformers
• low-voltage-switchgear
• frequency converter
• PLC and SCADA
• parts of the sensor technology
MINING & MATERIALS
Modernization shipunloader
New E-Container
Two containers were delivered and equipped with
major components of the new electrical equipment.
The containers were built together and checked in
advance of delivery.
Switchgear
The switchgear was customized planned and built
by Actemium. The essential part of the low-voltage
switchgear are components by Schneider Electric.
Frequency converter
The main drives are controlled by modular
frequency converters, type SINAMICS S120. All
parts including the rectifiers and inverters (motor
module) working redundant. The maximum input
of the converters are 5000A. The total length of all
modules is about 15 meters.

PLC/SCADA
The unloader is controlled by a PLC, type SIMATIC
S7-400F. The PLC-program was redesigned
completely. One part of the program is safety-
related.
IO terminals (type 750 by Wago) have been
connected to the PLC.
Delivery and installation of a SCADA-System, type
WinCC by Siemens. The SCADA-System consists of
1 server and 3 clients.
Besides the SCADA-System Actemium delivered
and installed an analyzing and measurement
system by iba.
Sensor technology
The movements of the main drives are controlled
by a new encoder system. The System, type U-ONE
by Johannes Hübner GmbH, was supplied by the
customer and had to be integrated by Actemium. The order could be accomplished to full customer
satisfaction since Actemium did receive the order
of another shipunloader modernization as follow
up project.MV-transformers
As power supply of the unloader two transformers
(Siemens type Geafol) with combined 4MVA have
been delivered.
