WFD
• Modelling diffuse P-input (MONERIS)
• What is good? What is bad lake specific ecological quality concerning eutrophication indicators?
P- Balance
• Historical P-load and P-retention (model will be presented in November in Berlin – Inka Workshop)
• Szenarios for the future (trophic state)

TP Jahresmittel
• Improvement of water quality due to waste water treatment
• Annual TP conc. < 40 mg/m³, summer mean < 20 mg/m³ = thresholds reached for lake type 13?
• Since 2003 mesotrophic conditions, but not reference state
• High internal P-release but no influence on summer phytoplankton

Macrophytes in lake Scharmützelsee / Higher biodiversity
1995 2006
Results of the project in the pilot area Scharmützelsee
• Eutrophication process in L. Scharmützelsse was stopped, improvement of water quality after 12 years (waste water treatment, watershed management)
• Modification of MONERIS model and development of a model for prediction of P-realease in dimictic lakes after (over)loading
• Problems now: Groundwater TP (> 100 mg/m³), Neocyanobacteria (toxic Nostocales),
• Shallow lakes::reduction of TP, but no response in phytoplankton biomass, but species composition, NO macrophytes! Solution: Biomanipulation?
”Lakepromo“ – Tools for Water Management and Restoration Processes
1,47 Mill. €
• Partner: Finnland, Dänemark, GB, Spanien, Estland, Ungarn, Russland
