DO YOU KNOW YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS ?

At many of our annual meetings, a petite lady with a British accent would read the minutes to us or report on membership news.   Some of you might have wondered how anyone so very English could have become a Burgenlaender?!  We would love to fill you in.Bernadette Toner is indeed from England who immigrated to Canada a number of years ago.  Here, she met the late Frank Jandrisits, a Burgenlaender, who became her partner.  Frank introduced Bernadette to the Burgenland community, to the culture of Austria and to Club activities.   Bernadette embraced it all.  At various times, Bernie,- as we like to call her, was the treasurer, the recording secretary, the membership convenor, the  tombola organizer and much more.  In her professional life, Bernadette has been working as an administrator in the educational system for the past thirty years.Sadly, Frank passed away in 2005.  However, Bernadette remained part of us. She is grateful to have met so many wonderful people within the Burgenland community and we are grateful, that she remained part of us.  We would like to thank her for all the help and support and are looking forward to working with her for years to come.

DID YOU KNOW...???Karlheinz Essl, an Austrian composer and performer, will be in Canada between February 8 - 18th, 2012. This might be of interest to our younger generation.Karlheinz will perform with the Contemporary Keyboard Society on Feb. 17th, 2012 at 8:00 PM at the MUSIC GALLERY in Toronto.
