Situated on a smallsandstone plateau, this

small park (2,230 ha.) 22ki lometres away fromKuching is one of themost accessible nationalparks in Sarawak. Thethree mountain peaks inthe park the 911m highGunung Serap i and theslightly smaller GunungSelang and Gunung

Sendok is clearlyvisible from the KuchingWaterfront .

Kubah was estab lished in 1989 becauseofits exceptionally rich plant life, andonly opened tothepublic in 1995. ThePark covers an area of2,23 0hectares.At heights ofbetween 150-45 0metres, Kubahs soft sandstone is punctuatedwith bands ofhardened limestonewhich havecreated anumber ofbeautifu lwaterfalls andbathing pools .

Kubah is mostly covered by mixed dipterocarp forest, but it also has oneof the widest selections of pa lms and orchids in Borneo. Almost a hundreddifferent pa lm species can be found in an area ofjust over 22 sq km, makingKubah probably the richest pa lm habitat for its size anywhere in the world.But Kubahs pa lms are not only abundant they are also historically andecologically important . Many of Kubahs pa lms were first described by thegreat Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari (1843-1920), who spent 3 years inSarawak from 1865 to1868.

gentletothedownright arduous.TheWaterfall Trail is themost popular trail,passing through mixed dipterocarpforest andincorporates anumber ofplankwalk sections that cross streams andswampy land.
