Faith In Action:

A new Model for a New Age

Surge with Service was introduced as a program model nearly 50 years ago. Now a new program model, called Faith in Action, will take effect with the 2018-2019 fraternal year.

The model is a simplified program structure that will help align and organize council programs, making it a more relevant model for every council.

The updated program model will:

Be the umbrella for all Supreme Council recommended programs.

Consist of four categories: Faith, Family, Community and Life.

Better integrate Domestic Church programs, making them foundational to council life.

Reduce the number of programs required to earn the Columbian Award to 16 (four programs in four categories).

Introduce nine new programs.

We can expect more detailed information about this new model at our District Deputies meeting on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at St. Pats Church in Onalaska.

BUILDING CATHOLICISM, NOT COLUMBIANISM

"What Father McGivney laid out was not the principles of a men's club or the principles of a secret society. It was a principled way of life for men to live their Catholic faith. We are not just building Colombianism, we are building Catholicism. Let's think about being a Knight of Columbus like that. And if we do, we understand that we are not just state deputies. Is that not the spiritual genius of Fa-ther McGivney? To understand how to build a way of life for men that goes to the central core of what it means to be a Catholic: charity, unity, brotherhood."

Shrine Caretaker Program Memorial to the Unborn

Event Coordinator: Richard Lepsch

Below is the Work Schedule and a definition of the tasks that we need to work on and a list of the equip-ment needed to perform the tasks. This Clipboard s located by the door leading from the garage to the basement of the Shrine. The supplies are in the garage, and you can drive a cart from there up the hill if you wish. I also asked Mark to have some supplies placed up at the Memorial to the Unborn. Per Mark, "The pool skimmer and broom will be placed up around the right side of the MUB reflection pool on the outside of the building beside the pump house. I will leave a bucket with a lid on it for gloves and small items for usage up there also."

Coordinate with others assigned for that week or come alone. If you miss your time, you are welcome to come any other time to make up.

Gregory Szyszkiewicz receives the April Knight of the Month Award from Matt Poje GK, for his outstanding work selling Charity Raffle. Greg sold nearly half of all tickets sold by the Council.

Nick Althoff receives the March Knight of the Month Award from Matt Poje GK, for his outstanding work with the Christmas Poster Contest and the Council’s Free Throw Contest, the first in La Crosse in a decade. Nick has also been very active in our Council as a Trustee.

This District Wide Fund Raiser, has been in the Formation and Planning stages for several months now with Matt Poje and Bill Jaekel as the sole representatives from our Council. All six Councils in District 25 will participate with working this event to make it successful, and all six Councils will equally share the net profit from the event for our Charity Fund. Raf-fle tickets will be available for sale the week of June 18, 2018. Each Council will receive 66 tickets to sell.

We will need to supply 6-9 Knights from our Council to work this event. Please contact Matt Poje or Bill Jaekel to volun-teer or be willing to help when called on. We are a small Council and the proceeds from this event could be very signifi-cant and help us in our works of Charity.
