Back up Diesel Generator

• Energinet.dk will install one diesel generator on each of the platforms to back up the supply for the platform

• The diesel generator will not be dimensioned for emergency

supply to the wind turbines, only for back-up supply to the platform

• No space has been allocated on the platform for a diesel

generator to provide back-up supply for the wind farm when the 220 kV connection onshore is out of service

Market design – main principles

• Prioritized access for off-shore wind to the national Danish on-shore transmission grid

• The Danish off-shore wind park at Kriegers Flak will be an integrated part of the price area in Eastern Denmark

• Capacity not used for transport of off-shore wind to the on-shore grid will be used for cross-border trade in the day-ahead market coupling and intra-day markets

• The capacity for cross-border trade is calculated on the basis of the “net-of-wind”-principle. The capacity will vary between 0 and 400 MW.

• Same conditions for trading in day-ahead and intra-day markets as for any other Danish off-shore wind park

Market design – operational principles

• Outages: Conditions for continued production will have to be defined at a later stage.

• Any consumption of electricity by the Danish off-shore wind parks for stand-by purposes during periods of outages on the radial connections to the Danish onshore grid will have to be settled with Energinet.dk.

• The framework for the balancing market contains a minor special condition concerning netting of imbalances with on-shore production facilities in some situations.

• A detailed description of the market framework can be found in the appendix to the final tender documents available at DEA’s webpage.
