ORANGE Order members from across the province gathered in Belfast yesterday to commemorate members of the institution who were murdered during the Troubles. The highlight of the service – attended by up to 1,000 people in the city’s Ulster Hall – was the dedication of a memorial stone in honour of the 336 members of the loyal order who lost their lives as a result of terrorism. Of those, almost 200 were current or former members of the security forces. Memorial for Order victims LEADING unionists have hit out at plans to stage a mock execution o the Queen in Dublin, describing it as “incitement to hatred”. Nigel Dodds said the protest by dissident republican group eirigi – due to take place outside the city’s GPO building this Saturday – was “sinking to the lowest o the low”. They described the device ound in a wheelie bin inside a van – as “sophisticated and substantial” and claimed it could have caused huge devastation and even loss o lie. The device could have been destined or a town centre. The aborted terror attack came ater a week o protests, and in Omagh yesterday, the crowd, many carrying posters saying: ‘Not in My Name’ called on the bombers to stop. Meanwhile, police were granted an extra fve days to question a 33-year-old man arrested on Friday in connection with the murder o the 25-year- old Catholic ofcer. A 26-year- old and a 40-year-old are also in custody.
