Tutorial Overview

Sign up for QuizStar. Set up classes and assign quizzes to those classes. Tell your students to sign up for QuizStar and to search for, then register for your class. If you prefer, you can register the students yourself. Once students take your quiz, go to Report Manager to view the report for that quiz. Repeat this process for as many classes and quizzes you have.

Create your profile

Set up your profile and view your page for students.

Sign up To create your profile, click the Sign up now arrow on the instructor login page. This link will take you to a form for you to fill in your personal information.

Profile form This form asks you to enter your name and to create a unique user name and password that you will use to access all of QuizStar's features.

Instructor information At the bottom of the profile form is a section for optional information that will be displayed to students when they search for your class to register. You are not required to fill this out but it is helpful for students if they encounter several courses that may be similar.

Edit profile From any page in QuizStar you may access your profile from the header next to your name. Simply click on the link that says Profile to go to a screen with your information.

Profile page This page displays your personal information in your QuizStar profile. If you wish to change any of the content shown, simply click on the Edit button and make the changes. Click Savewhen you are finished.

Create a class Learn how to create a class, assign quizzes to that class and register students for the class.

New Class To make a class, using the Class Manager, click on New Class.

Class Form This takes you to a form where you put in the details of the class. You have numerous options for customizing the class to make QuizStar work best for you.

Class Options Once you create a class you can assign quizzes to it, register students for it, adjust the class settings or post a message to your students.

Register Students To register students to a class use the form in the Student section of the class page. Click on it to create new student profiles or register existing QuizStar students.

Student Class Search You don't have to register students to your class yourself. Students, upon signing up for QuizStar, are directed to search for their classes and register for them. This is designed to make your life as an instructor easier by not having to fill in a lot of data.

Class Bulletin To post a bulletin simply click on the link to go to the bulletin page. You will see the last message posted to students and may create a new message for students to see when they are registered for your class.

Class Settings If at any time you want to change your class settings you can do so by clicking on the Class Settings link. This page has your current settings and allows you to change them.

Make a quiz Click on the New Quiz link to go to the quiz forms.

Quiz Repository The Quiz Repository is the storage place for all of your quizzes. Here is where you go to make quizzes in QuizStar.

Quiz Settings Customize the quizzes to work best for you.

Question Form Create the content for the quiz by writing the questions. You can set multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions, and you can attach media files to your questions and answer choices.

Question List Adjust the order of questions or get an overview of a quiz to see what questions you have and what you still need.

Preview Quiz There are two ways to preview a quiz in the way students see it: Look at the entire quiz or view an individual question.

Assignment Manager Get an overall view of which quizzes are assigned to which classes. You don't have to go into each class to see where you have quizzes assigned.

Assign a quiz A quiz must be assigned to a class in order for students to take it. This process is very easy; you either click Assign a Quiz from the Quiz Repository after selecting a class, or from inside a class click Assign Quiz and then select your quiz.

Assign from a class From the Quizzes section of a Class page, click on the Assign Quiz link. That takes you to a page to select the quiz and set the active dates.

Quiz Selector Choose the quiz from the list, then set the active dates for the quiz.

Active Dates For every quiz, you can set the time and dates for the quiz to remain active and available for students to take. You can also set a quiz to remain active indefinitely.

Assign from the Quiz Repository Select the quiz you wish to assign then select the class from the drop down menu in line with the quiz. Next, click the button to the right. This will take you to a page to assign the active dates for the quiz.

Assignment Manager This is the overview of all your assigned quizzes. You can see what is assigned where and whether you have assigned a quiz to multiple classes.

Register Students You may assign students to your class or they can register themselves. Students are instructed to search for classes to register for when they sign in to QuizStar. Registering students yourself is useful if you have students who are younger and you want more control of their quiz-taking experience. Inside the Class page click on Students and with that form you can create new student profiles or register existing students to QuizStar. If you remove a student from a class, the student is still in the system since he/she can still be registered for other classes.

Student Side of QuizStar Students search for your class when they sign up for QuizStar. Once they find it, they register for it. If your class is set to Public then they can begin taking the quizzes immediately.

Instructor Side of QuizStar Select a class from the Class Manager and click on the Student section to take you to the class roster page. This page is where you manage all your students.

Student Form Either add a new student to the QuizStar system or enter the username of an existing user. You also have the ability to upload an entire roster as a CSV file from Microsoft Excel.

Student Classes When a student is registered for your class he/she will see your class listed with their other classes and will be able to take the active quizzes assigned.

View a report The power of QuizStar lies in its ability to help you track students' performance. This is done through the reports.

Report Manager Report Manager is similar to Class Manager in that you may see an overview of all the classes with reports. You must select a class to view its reports.

Class Reports Select a class to see the reports available for that class. Click on a report to view it.

Report The reports itemize the quiz by question and by student.
