The first virtual event was Cozy Up & Read night on Tuesday, September 15. There were over 40 families that joined in the fun of this live Zoom event. Families also received a goodie bag with new books for each child and new blanket for the family. Activities included a home scavenger hunt, a categories game, and a sidewalk chalk challenge to do after the event. More virtual family events are being planned for October and November. We are working virtually with two UNL volunteer groups that are planning a Family Math Night in October and a Family Physical Activity Challenge in November. The Family Math Night will be a live Zoom event on October 20 and the Physical Activity Challenge will be a two-week challenge at the beginning of November with a drive-thru event on the evening of November 2 for families to pick up their challenge bags that will have both indoor and outdoor challenges that you can do from home. ALL families are invited to participate in these events. If your child does not attend Arnold, you can request a registration form by contacting Dayna Krannawitter, CLC school community coordinator at [email protected] If your child attends Arnold, you will receive the registration form via School Messenger email a couple weeks before each event. We hope your family will join in the fun and create more family and community connections!

Happy Fall from all of us at Parkview Carol Yoakum Child Development Center! We are certainly ready for some cooler weather and the beautiful colors in nature! Our center is currently enrolling children ages 18 months to 5 years old. While deciding to enroll your child in a center setting may seem scary during these uncertain times, we would like to let you know that we are going above and beyond what is required of us, to keep our children and staff safe. We take the temperatures of children and staff before entering, and throughout the day. If a child or

staff becomes ill, they are isolated and sent

home. We use a bleach mixture on highly touched surfaces every hour and each and every toy that is touched is sent through our high temperature Hobart sanitizer several times a day. We are fortunate to have a big beautiful playground space that is separated by age group which means we spend a lot of time in the fresh air. We take full advantage of our outdoor space and often hold class outside to insure we are allowing for plenty of space between our children. Our staff continues to work diligently to create the safest learning environment for all of our students.

If you or someone you know is looking for care, please give us a call at 402-325-0492.

We would be happy to show you around!

Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties (Community Action) is encouraging those with past-due balances for rent or utility payments apply for emergency financial assistance. Community Action’s Emergency Services program provides rent, utility, and deposit assistance to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. COVID-19’s effect on the local economy has caused many people in Lancaster and Saunders Counties to face financial uncertainty. In some cases, individuals and families are experiencing this uncertainty for the first time in their lives. Those who need assistance with making rent, utility, or deposit payments are encouraged to contact Community Action. “Community Action is here and ready to assist,” said Michelle Martinez, Community Services Director for Community Action. “We encourage anyone with a past due rent or utility payment to contact us.” Modifications have been made to Emergency Services eligibility criteria in light of COVID-19. Any household in need of Emergency Services assistance from Community Action may call (402) 471-4515 to complete an application over the phone. Calls are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Calls are returned in the order in which they are received. To learn more about other resources available through Community Action, visit communityactionatwork.org.
