Glass sandwich façades can be built with GSP ® while complying with strict energy-saving legislation. It makes no difference whether the façade involves structural glazing, a homogeneous glass surface, rows of windows with concealed sunblinds or indi-vidual windows. Edge details such as trims or cap-pings and decorative finishes may be easily incor-porated. The same applies for features such as LED lighting within the joints.

Werkschutzgebäude, München – Ebene Flächen, minimale Fugen, perfekte Anschlüsse und ausdrucksstarke Reduktion prägen die gläserne Gebäudehülle. Beinahe unsichtbar wurde eine Vielzahl von Funktionalitäten integriert. Die rund 170 qm große Fassade wurde zu etwa drei Vierteln mit GSP ® gestal-tet. Im keramischen Walzendruckverfahren erhielten die Glas-scheiben einen lichtgrauen Farbton. Fassadenecken in Ganz-glasoptik, der Edelstahlsockel sowie die verdeckt liegende Attika vervollkommnen die puristische Ästhetik des Entwurfs.

Factory security building, Munich – Flat surfaces, minimal joints, perfect connections and expressive minimalism char-acterise this glazed façade. Several performance aspects and functions are concealed and integrated within the façade. Around three-quarters of the 170 sqm façade were finished with GSP ®. Ceramic roller-coat printing was used to give the glass a light grey colour. The structural glass look of the façade corners, the stainless steel plinth and the concealed parapet compliment the purist aesthetics of the design.

Eurospar, Kufstein – Der Supermarkt zeigt den idealen Einsatz von GSP ®. Bis zu 14,72 Meter lange, horizontale GSP ® - Elemente schließen die Verkaufs- und Lagerflächen ab und rahmen die großzügige Pfosten-Riegel-Fassade ein. Die Glasspiegelungen wirken belebend und erzeugen immer neue Eindrücke. Die Montagezeit betrug nur 10 Wochen. Ein iconic skin-Supervisor vor Ort schulte und unterstützte das Montageteam.

The GSP ® elements, up to 14.72 metres long, enclose the sales and storage areas and frame the large mullion/transom façade. The reflections in the glass are stimulating and create new impressions all the time. It took only 10 weeks to erect the elements. Fenster- und Türprofile oder Pfosten und Riegel werden durch eine partiell bedruckte Glasscheibe verdeckt. Windlasten werden durch die SG- Verklebung von der Verglasung in das tragende Sandwich-paneel abgeführt.

The desire to create a homogenous building envelope is achieved with an all-glass appearance, the structural glazed façade (SG). The window and door frames, or supporting mullion / transom systems, are concealed behind strategi-cally applied prints on the glass. Wind loads are transferred from the glass to the loadbearing sandwich panel via the SG adhesive.

Vertical glass sandwich façade The vertical arrangement offers maximum flexibility when combining transparent and opaque areas. When mounting the panels vertically, the supporting framework for the GSP® is positioned on the floors. GSP® can span vertically from floor to floor, or, with a maximum length of 16 metres, it can span over several floors, with fewer joints. Large openings or mullion / transom façades may be easily incorporated within this vertically oriented installation.

Funktionale Anforderungen an eine Fassade ergeben sich aus der Nutzung: Wird ein Gebäude als Büro genutzt, sind oft horizontale, gleichförmige Fensterbänder auf Sichthöhe erforderlich. Festver glasungen können dabei mit Öffnungs-elementen abwechseln. Fensterband-Fassaden sollen einen uneingeschränkten Blick aus dem Innen- in den Außenraum ermöglichen und konstruktive Elemente scheinbar auflösen.

Horizontale Glas - Sandwich -FassadeDie horizontale Verlegerichtung bietet sich bei der Adap-tion von Fensterbändern an. Die GSP ® - Elemente benötigen zur Befestigung an den Endpunkten einen Träger. Bei einer Länge von 16 Metern sind Zwischenbefestigungspunkte notwendig, deren Maximalabstand sechs Meter beträgt. Die Fensterband-Fassade muss im Zusammenspiel mit den GSP ®- Breiten geplant werden. Die Adaption eines flächen-bündigen Sonnenschutzes ist horizontal problemlos möglich.

The functions to be fulfilled by a façade depend on the use of the building. For instance, an office building often requires rows of horizontal, uniform windows at eye level. Fixed gla-zing can alternate with opening lights.Façades with rows of windows should allow uninterrupted views from inside to outside and seemingly dissolve the ob-structions caused by structural members.

Horizontal glass sandwich façade Installing the panels horizontally is an ideal solution for incorporating rows of windows. The GSP ® elements require a beam at each end for fixing. When using the maximum length of 16 metres, intermediate fixings are required, their maximum distance is six metres. Façades with rows of windows must be designed taking into account the GSP ® widths. The inclusion of flush-fitting sunblinds is efficiently accommodated with horizontal panels.

Sie kommt in der Regel dort zum Einsatz, wo große Einbauhöhen und Durchsichtsbreiten rea-lisiert werden sollen. Die große Variabilität wird durch GSP ® erweitert. Transparente Bereiche und opake Flächen sind un-kompliziert zu kombinieren. Dieser Einsatz ist insbesondere für den Bereich Retail prädestiniert: Großzügige Eingangs- und Foyerbereiche werden als Pfosten - Riegel - Fassade umgesetzt. Regal - und Lager flächen bleiben opak und die bedruckte Oberfläche kann kommunizieren.

This arrangement is generally used where large construction heights and wide transparent areas are required. GSP ® makes the good variability even better. GLASQUALITÄTGLASS QUALITY

GSP ® gibt es in den beiden Glasqualitäten Floatglas und Weiß-glas. Aufgrund seiner besonders farbneutralen Durchsicht eig-net sich Weißglas sehr gut bei einer hellen Bedruckung. Nach der Kantenbearbeitung wird das 6 mm TVG auf Glas ebene #2 in dem jeweils geeigneten Druckverfahren (keramischer Di-gitaldruck oder Walzendruck) deckend bedruckt.

GSP ® is available in float and low-iron glass grades. Owing to its especially good colour rendering, low-iron glass is excel-lent in conjunction with light-colour printing. Following edge working, full-coverage printing is applied to level 2 of the 6 mm heat-strengthened glass by means of a suitable printing method (ceramic digital printing or roller-coater printing).

KERAMISCHE BEDRUCKUNGCERAMIC PRINTING

GSP ® erfüllt einen hohen Grad an individuellen Wünschen und Anforderungen. Insbesondere durch die Bedruckung werden die Ge-bäude zu gestaltbaren Leinwänden und damit zur Marken architektur mit prägnanten Ansichten, hohem Wiedererkennungswert und unver-wechselbarer Identität. Charakteristi-sche Schriftzüge, Logos oder weitere Elemente des Corporate Design las-sen sich auf die Gebäude hülle appli-zieren.

Die hoch widerstandsfähige Glasbe-druckung basiert auf keramischen Farben. Durch den Einbrennvorgang bei 600 Grad verschmelzen die Farben mit dem Glas und sind witter-ungsbeständig, kratzfest, licht- und haftbeständig. Der einfarbige, voll-flächige und deckende Farbauftrag wird kostengünstig mittels Walzen-druck umgesetzt. Für kom plexe, mehr farbige Motive (vektorbasiert oder fotorealistisch) und Farbverläufe eignet sich der Digitaldruck. Bei repe-titiven Motiven und Glasgrößen bis 6 Meter bietet sich zudem der Sieb-druck an.

GSP ® fulfils the highest demands when it comes to individual require-ments. In particular, printing turns a building into a blank canvas and hence corporate architecture with spectac-ular elevations, a high recognition value and an unmistakable identity. Characteristic lettering, logos or oth-er corporate design elements can be applied to the building envelope.

Ceramic inks form the basis for the very hardwearing printing on the glass. In a firing process at a temperature of 600°C, the ceramic particles are permanently bonded to the glass to create a weather- resistant, scratchproof, non-fading surface. Roller-coater printing is the cost-effective method for applying single-colour, full-coverage, opaque ink finishes. Digital printing is suita-ble for complex, multicolour motifs (vector-based or photorealistic) and colour gradations. And screen print-ing is available for repetitive motifs and pane sizes of up to 6 metres.

The factors that affect GSP ® elements are just as complex as the building itself. Glass and sandwich panels can be combined in all kinds of ways to create different GSP ® types. The GSP ® can be individually configured to suit the requirements.

VERKÜRZTE ODER VERLÄNGERTE GLASSCHEIBE LONGER OR SHORTER GLASS PANES

Bei einem Fußpunkt kann eine verkürzte Glasschei-be sinnvoll sein, um eine Sockelleiste zu ermögli-chen 1 . Ein Glasüberstand im Bereich der Attika 2 macht eine homogene Glasoberfläche ohne Blend-profile möglich.

At the base of a façade, for example, it can be advantageous to shorten the pane of glass to create a plinth 1 . On the other hand, an overhanging pane of glass at the parapet 2 results in a homogeneous glass surface without the need for a fascia panel.

The hidden fixings mean that the position of the glass is always different from that of the sandwich panel behind. At the groove 1 the glass always pro-jects a little bit, while at the tongue 2 it is slightly set back by a small amount. The result is a highly attractive shadow line.

GSP ® can let light into a building by incorporating openings. The glass surface continues uninterrupted across the opening, and the cut-out in the sandwich panel is filled with insulated glass.

Um gestalterische Aspekte zu berücksichtigen, wie zum Beispiel das Fugenbild, werden auf einem Sandwichpaneel mehrere Glasscheiben aufge-bracht. Optischen und baulichen Anforderungen kann damit gleichermaßen entsprochen werden.

Architectural aspects, e.g. the pattern of the joints, can lead to the need for attaching several panes of glass to one sandwich panel. Both aesthetic appearance and construction requirements can be satisfied.

GSP®- SPANNWEITENGSP® SPANS

Die Spannweitentabelle bezieht sich auf GSP ® mit einem PUR - Dämmkern. In jedem Einzelfall ist sowohl ein detaillier-ter statischer Nachweis für den Einsatz von GSP ® als auch der Nachweis der Befestigungspunkte erforderlich. Die charak-teristischen Beanspruchungen sind nach den einschlägigen Bestimmungen (z. B. DIN - Normen, Eurocodes) zu ermitteln.Die Tabelle berücksichtigt Sandwichpaneel - Dicken von 100, 140 und 180 mm, sowie Einfeld -, Zweifeld - und Dreifeld - An-wendungen.

The span charts are based on GSP ® with PUR core insula-tion. A detailed structural analysis for the use of GSP ® plus an analysis of the fixing points is required in every single case. The characteristic loads must be determined according to the relevant regulations (e.g. DIN standards, Eurocodes). The charts cover sandwich panel thicknesses of 100, 140 and 180 mm as well as one-, two- and three-span arrangements.

BeispielBei einem Einsatz von GSP ® PUR180 und einem Winddruck von 0,8 [ kN / m2 ] beträgt die Spannweite eines Feldes L = 7,9 m 1 . Bei einem Windsog von -1,0 [ kN / m2 ] liegt die Spannweite bei 7,0 m 2 . Der niedrigere Spannweitenwert ergibt den Richtwert.

Die sedak-Hallenerweiterung in Gersthofen zeigt eine besonders wirtschaft-liche Einfeldlösung durch den Einsatz von GSP ®. Verbaut wurden monta-gefreundliche 4,5 Meter lange GSP® -Elemente, die eine ökonomische und ästhetische Warmfassadenlösung ermöglichen.

The use of GSP ® in the hall extension of sedak in Gersthofen is an example of an economical single-field solution. 4.5 meter long GSP® elements were installed to allow an economical and aesthetic warm façade solution.

GSP ® multilam erzielt einen changierenden Fassaden- Effekt durch geneigt montierte Glasscheiben. Bei der neuent-wickelten geschuppten Ausführung werden auf ein GSP®

mit Systemmaß 1.000 mm zwei oder drei Glaslamellen mit Neigung aufgebracht. Der Abstandshalter erreicht dabei ei-nen maximalen Abstand von 13 mm und auch das Silikon wird konisch aufgetragen.

GSP ® multilam is effecting an iridescent look of the façade by scaled glass lamellas. In the new scaled version two or three glass lamellas are applied on a GSP® with system size of 1.000 mm with inclination. A spacer allows a maximum distance of 13 mm and silicone is applied conically.

Zwischen den GSP ®- Elementen kann eine Lichtfuge integ-riert werden. Dafür wird ein lineares LED - Lichtband auf einer flexiblen Leiterplatine in das Metallprofil mit Abdeckung ein-gebracht. Die LED - Lichtfuge mit einer Leistung von 14 W / m ist in RGB - oder Weißlicht verfügbar. Diese Technologie ga-rantiert eine minimale Bautiefe und - breite. Flächenbündig integriert sich die Lichtlösung in eine 20 mm breite Glasfuge.

LED lighting can be incorporated between the GSP® el-ements. A flexible LED lighting strip is integrated into the metal frame section with a covering profile. LED lighting in the joints is available in RGB or white light and has an out-put of 14 W / m. This technology guarantees a minimum joint depth and width. Fitted flush, LED lighting is integrated into a 20 mm wide joint.

Mit CSP ® bietet iconic skin eine Alternative zur Glasoberflä-che. Für spannende Materialwechsel innerhalb der Fassa-dengestaltung können Stein oder Faserplatten auf das Sand-wichpanel aufgebracht werden. CSP ® bietet sich vor allem in Sockel- und Brüstungsbereichen an.CSP ® bietet folgende Maximalformate: Stein (z. B. Dekton ®) 1 ist bislang in einer Länge bis 3.200 mm erhältlich, Faser-platten (z. B. Trespa ®) 2 gibt es bis 4.270 mm.

With CSP ®, iconic skin offers an alternative to the glass façade. To create interesting changes of material within a façade, the panel can be coated with stone or fibreboard. CSP ® is ideal for plinths and spandrel panels.CSP ® can be supplied in the following maximum formats: Stone (e.g. Dekton®) 1 is currently available in lengths of up to 3,200 mm, fibreboards (e.g. Trespa®) 2 can be up to 4,270 mm.

SERIELLE FERTIGUNGSERIAL PRODUCTION

Die GSP ® - Fertigungsanlage produziert bis zu einer maximalen Länge von 16 Metern schnell und kosteneffizient. Nach Zuschnitt, Kanten bear beitung, Bedruckung der Glasscheibe sowie dem Emailierungs vorgang werden die Komponenten Glas, Silikon und Sandwichpaneel in einem auto matisierten Prozess millimetergenau verbunden. Durch die Oberflächenbehandlung wird das Sandwichpaneel für die strukturelle Verklebung vorbereitet. Distanzpads sorgen für einen gleichmäßigen Abstand. Nun werden die Silikonspuren auf gebracht und anschließend die Glasscheibe mit dem Sandwichpaneel „verheiratet“.

The GSP ® production plant can produce elements up to 16 meters long, fast and cost-effectively. After cutting to size, edge working, printing on the glass pane and the enamelling process, the glass, silicone and sandwich panel components are joined together with millimetre accuracy in an automated process. The sandwich panel is activated for structural adhesive bonding by a surface treatment. Spacer pads ensure a consistent spacing. Beads of silicon are applied and the pane of glass is then bonded to the sandwich panel.


LOGISTIKLOGISTICS

Die GSP ® - Elemente werden in einem speziellen Transport-gestellen liegend, auf Wunsch auch der Montagesequenz folgend, an die Baustelle geliefert. Das Handling der Glas - Sandwich-Paneele wird durch Montageanweisungen, Schulungen und ggf. Supervisor vermittelt.

All GSP ® elements are delivered to the site lying horizontally in special transport frames, upon request of the customer ac-cording to the assembly sequence. Personnel learn how to handle the glass sandwich panels through instruction manu-als, training courses and, if necessary, the help of supervisors on site.

AUSTAUSCHKONZEPTGLAZING REPLACEMENT

Bei einer Beschädigung der Außenscheibe kann diese vor Ort ausgetauscht werden, ohne die Fassade öffnen zu müs-sen. Eine intakte Außenhaut des Gebäudes ist garantiert. Die beschädigte Glasscheibe wird abgenommen, die Ober-fläche gereinigt und eine neue Glasscheibe mit SG-Verkle-bung aufgebracht, die mit Keilen bis zur Aushärtung fixiert wird.

Should an outer pane be damaged, it can be replaced in situ without having to open up the façade; an intact building enve-lope is guaranteed. The damaged glass pane will be removed from the panel, the surface will be cleaned and the new glass pane applied with SG adhesive, which is fixed mechanically until the adhesive has set.

MONTAGEERECTION

Die einfache Montage und die großformatigen Elemen-te lassen eine schnelle Schließung der Tragstruktur zu. Die Montageabläufe unterscheiden sich kaum von der rei-nen Sandwichpaneelmontage. Bei der Verlegung wird das GSP ® -Element mit einer Glassauganlage in die Vertikale ge-bracht und mittels eines Krans an den Einbauort befördert. Dort wird das Glas-Sandwich-Paneel mit der vorgesehenen Nut- und Federverbindung verlegt und verdeckt verschraubt. Bei der Unterkonstruktion müssen die Verlegerichtung sowie die GSP ® - Spann weiten berücksichtigt werden.

Simple erection procedures and large element formats en-able the structural frame to be quickly enclosed. Erection procedures are hardly any different from those of standard sandwich panels. During the installation process, the GSP ® is brought into the vertical with a vacuum suction system and lifted with a crane to the place of installation. The glass sand-wich panel is installed with tongue and groove connection and concealed screwing. The supporting structure must take into account the spans of the GSP ® elements and whether they are being installed horizontally or vertically.

Intensive Gespräche der Ent-wicklungsingenieure mit dem DIBt und die Zusammenarbeit mit namhaften Instituten bei der Konzeption und Durchführung begleiten die notwendigen Tests zu Brandschutz, CE-Kennzeichnung und Traglast. Innovationsthemen wie Beleuchtungstest oder alternative Ober flächen erweitern das Produkt-spektrum.

The development of standardised building elements within a serial production process, including all the necessary approvals, is carried out by iconic skin. The essential tests for fire safety, CE marking and loadbearing capacity have involved intense discussions between iconic skin’s development engineers and the German Institute of Building Technology (DIBt) in cooperation with renowned institutes. Innovations such as lighting tests or use of alternative surfaces offer opportunities to expand the range of products.

ZULASSUNGENAPPROVALS

Die Leistungsfähigkeit von GSP ® wird in Versuchsreihen intensiv untersucht. Anerkannte Prüfsachverständige dokumentieren die umfangreichen Test. Für die bereits realisierten Bauvorhaben wurden Zustimmungen im Einzelfall er-teilt. Die Beantragung der allgemeinen bauaufsichtlichen Zulassung (abZ) für GSP ® ist erfolgt und alle erforderlichen Tests sind ab geschlossen. Brandversu-che zur Bau stoffklassifizierung B-s1 d0 wurden erfolgreich vollzogen. Darüber-hinaus erfolgten Prüfungen zur Wasser- und Luftdurchlässigkeit.

Die Entwicklung und die Zulassungsverfahren werden u.a. begleitet vom Ingenieurbüro iS-engineering / Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Berner, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Schuler, dem LSL der Hochschule München, der TU Darmstadt / Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Lange, der MFPA Leipzig und dem ift Rosenheim.

The performance of GSP ® is intensively investigated through testing. Acknowl-edged testing experts are certifying the extensive test series. Approvals were granted in individual cases for the construction projects already implemented. The application for granting the national technical approval (abZ) for GSP ® and all required tests have been completed. Fire tests for the building material classification B-s1 d0 were successfully carried out. Furthermore tests on water and air permeability were carried out.

Involved experts in the development and the approval method are, e.g. engineer office iS-engineering (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Berner, Prof. Dr.-Ing.
