Document C:

A miceozrr.ihed sheet with text on both sides in Latvian which contains the text

of two lettere from Latvia written in 1946 and 1947. Agent did not remember'

how he got this and who is the author or ndressee of these letters. However,=AlbarSIETINSONS (811)17

when visiting a couple daya later-lrEssi out -mat these letters

had been received by some members of the student fraternity sTalavia" there;

in order to maks the contents known to other members of iTalavia' in Germany,

some of these letters wore copied by mimeograph and put irrcirculation among •

them. This caused an uproar among others who protested against such procedure

as dangerous'dor the authors of these letters. According to Agent 907, the .Ac -author of the first letter could be Aleksandre JURJANS and it was sent to Laimonis

'4xuxuns in laeek at that time ( now in Helbourn, Australia ), who was his school-

mate in Riga. This letter, written on 20 Dec.1946, were one of the first Which

arrived in Germany from Latvia. Later there was , news that A.JURJARG got arrested,

even liquidated due to this letter, i.e. the rumors in Germany about it. The

text of this letter is rather interesting - it shows very impressively the condi-

tions in post-war Latvia; here are some excerpts from its
