Sfârşitul anului 2010 este unul special pentru mine: am început acest an cu oarecare
temeri din punct de vedere al evoluţiei organizaţiei în conditii de criză economică. Nestiind ce
schimbari vor avea loc si cum vom traversa un nou an de criza, obiectivele noastre au fost concentrate
spre menţinerea unui echilibru resurse-rezultate şi pe consolidarea organizaţională .
În acest moment de bilanţ, pot spune cu certitudine că anul 2010, deşi un an mai putin
incurajator din punct de vedere al fondurilor atrase, nu a fost un an în care am „supravieţuit” sau
„rezistat”. Dimpotrivă, a fost o perioadă în care ne-am dezvoltat în continuare din punct de vedere al
performanţelor şi achiziţiilor profesionale, i-am ajutat în continuare pe oamenii de lângă noi, am
schimbat destine, am împlinit vise.
„Secretul” nostru? Oamenii. La prima vedere, un răspuns comun şi poate prea des invocat. La o
privire mai atentă, tot ceea ce contează. În decursul anilor, am încercat să aduc în şi lângă această
organizaţie oameni care să-şi respecte munca, oameni valoroşi, cu credinţă în ei, în ceilalţi şi mai ales
în idealurile lor. Oameni care să aibă tăria de a visa şi puterea de a transpune visul în realitate. Este
vorba de colegii mei din executiv, de membrii consiliului de conducere, de finanţatorii noştri
tradiţionali şi, nu în ultimul rând, de partenerii şi colaboratorii noştri. Lor le mulţumesc la acest final de
an, către ei se îndreaptă acum gândurile mele.
În primul rând e vorba de echipa ASIS, de cei 15 colegi care, cu dăruire şi responsabilitate, au
contribuit, fiecare în domeniul lui de activitate, la realizarea obiectivelor propuse. Programele
asociaţiei, rezultatele obţinute în fiecare dintre ele, sunt nu doar un rod al muncii de echipă, ci in egala
masura sunt rezultate obţinute prin contribuţie individuală, prin muncă susţinută, răbdare şi dorinţă
permanentă de autodepăşire.
Un aport susţinut a fost adus de membrii consiliului de conducere al asociaţiei. În acest an de
criză i-am simţit si mai mult alături de personalul executiv în efortul de a depăşi un moment dificil.
Poziţia în care mă aflu, cea de director, a presupus o mijlocire permanentă a relaţiilor dintre acest
consiliu şi lucrători, în vederea reorientării şi adaptării strategiei de lucru, a obiectivelor organizaţiei în
funcţie de realitatea economică şi socială pe care am traversat-o. Colaborarea şi buna comunicare
dintre consiliu şi executiv au contribuit într-o măsură însemnată la succesul organizaţiei în anul care
tocmai s-a încheiat. Un rol deosebit de important l-au avut membrii din strainatate ai consiliului de
conducere, care ne-au ajutat cu experienţa lor şi contactele internaţionale, mijlocind accesul la surse de
finanţare externă.
Îmi face o deosebită plăcere să mulţumesc şi cu acest prilej finanţatorilor noştri tradiţionali,
oameni şi organizaţii care ne cunosc, au încredere în noi şi ne-au valorizat permanent munca. Fără
suportul lor constant, ASIS nu ar fi reuşit să facă dovada seriozităţii şi competenţei profesionale prin
obţinerea unor rezultate deosebite într-o perioadă extrem de grea pentru întreaga societate românească.
Partenerilor şi colaboratorilor noştri interni şi externi le doresc un an bun, plin de realizări
profesionale şi ii invit sa fie alaturi de noi si in 2011, asemeni anilor trecuti, pentru a raspunde mai
prompt si mai eficient nevoilor semenilor noştri.

Poziţia mea în cadrul asociaţiei ASIS, precum şi numărul mare de ani lucraţi aici, ar
presupune la acest final de an mai degrabă o evaluare de ansamblu a progreselor echipei şi a
rezultatelor obţinute în cadrul proiectelor. Este adevărat că la fiecare bilanţ se vorbeşte despre aşteptări
şi realizări, despre obiective şi rezultate, despre contribuţie şi acumulări personale.
Dar anul 2010 are pentru mine, spre deosebire de alţi ani petrecuţi aici, ceva special. Este un an
în care m-am ocupat mai îndeaproape de unul dintre proiectele asociaţiei, un proiect relativ nou pentru
mine, şi asupra lui vreau să mă opresc în continuare.
Proiectul „Centru de consiliere pentru copii si parinti” se adresează familiilor cu risc ridicat de
abandon şi excluziune socială. Începând cu anul 2008, acest proiect se derulează fără întrerupere cu
rezultate notabile. Anul 2010 a fost un an în care s-au înregistrat cele mai multe solicitări, acest fapt
fiind poate şi o consecinţă a crizei economice pe care a traversat-o România. Dar mai mult decat suport
material, aceste familii au avut nevoie de suport emoţional, de informare, sprijin şi îndrumare.
În acest an am încercat să structurăm programul centrului într-o manieră care sa ne permită sa
ne concentrăm pe lucrul individual cu fiecare familie în parte. Am considerat familia ca întreg şi
fiecare referent sau lucrător din centru şi-a structurat activităţile astfel încât să contribuie la susţinerea
şi dezvoltarea familiei în ansamblul ei.
Printre problemele prioritare identificate la nivelul adulţilor a fost lipsa unui loc de muncă. Cei
mai mulţi şi-au pierdut exercitiul căutării unui loc de muncă, pentru că perioade lungi de timp au avut
locuri de muncă stabile. Pentru această categorie de beneficiari am organizat sesiuni de informare şi
suport în vederea dobândirii abilităţilor şi deprinderilor de recalificare, căutare şi menţinere a unui loc
de muncă.
La nivelul copiilor, principalele probleme identificate au fost legate de educaţie şi de ocuparea
timpului liber. Copiii au fost ajutaţi şi îndrumaţi în ceea ce priveşte dobândirea deprinderii de a-şi face
temele zilnic. De asemenea, pentru a-i atrage să frecventeze zilnic centrul, i-am implicat în activităţi
creative cum ar fi confecţionarea de bijuterii, pictura, dar şi în activităţi de grup, încercând sa le
dezvoltăm capacităţile de relaţionare interpersonală şi încrederea in sine.
Chiar şi după atâta timp petrecut în această organizaţie, nu imi pare inoportun să spun ca învăţ.
Am învăţat şi în acest an şi, la rândul meu, am încercat să ofer celorlalţi ceva valoros din experienţa
mea în lucrul cu beneficiarii, dar şi din punct de vedere al muncii în echipă.

Din punct de vedere profesional, anul 2010 s-a caracterizat prin implicarea mea în
toate proiectele organizaţiei, poziţie care mi-a oferit ocazia de a avea o privire de ansamblu asupra
nevoilor de dezvoltare existente atât la nivelul serviciilor oferite beneficiarilor, cât şi la nivelul echipei
ca întreg .
M-am implicat cu entuziasm în proiectul “Sunt cetăţean - Îmi cunosc drepturile!” şi cred ca
feedback-ul pozitiv venit din partea profesioniştilor participanţi la sesiunile de formare organizate de
asociaţie a justificat pe deplin continuarea acestui proiect şi în 2010.
La nivelul programului de dezvoltare a deprinderilor de viaţă independentă derulat în cadrul
apartamentelor sociale, un aspect de noutate în 2010 l-au constituit vizitele reprezentanţilor unor
instituţii guvernamentale şi nonguvernamentale, unele dintre acestea devenind interesate de
dezvoltarea unor servicii similare în urma schimbului de experienţă avut.
In cadrul Centrului pentru Familie am realizat activităţi cu un număr mare de beneficiari
proveniţi din diferite zone ale Capitalei. Colaborarea bună avută cu organizaţiile active in mediul
stradal a permis o structurare eficientă a intervenţiei în favoarea beneficiarilor comuni.
Serviciile de consiliere psihologică s-au dezvoltat semnificativ în anul 2010 şi datorită lucrului
cu o categorie aparte de beneficiari, cei referiţi de la nivelul Serviciului de Probaţiune de pe lângă
Tribunalul Bucuresti. Nevoile de consiliere ale beneficiarilor aflaţi în contact cu sistemul justiţiei
penale au reprezentat pentru mine o permanentă provocare în anul care tocmai s-a încheiat.
În acelaşi timp, contactelele numeroase realizate în acest an cu partenerii noştri tradiţionali şi
nu numai, mi-au oferit nu doar ocazia de a promova imaginea asociaţiei, dar şi de a contribui, prin
expertiza acumulată, la dezvoltarea serviciilor sociale oferite la nivel local şi chiar naţional.
În concluzie, anul 2010 a fost unul plin de provocări profesionale, un an în care lucrurile au fost
în mişcare, au evoluat permanent, un an în care am acumulat noi informaţii şi deprinderi, dar şi un an
în care am avut ocazia să împărtăşesc altora din experienţa mea ca profesionist, dar şi a instituţiei în
ansamblu, ca organizaţie socială.

Cred că anul 2010 a fost unul dintre cei mai dificili ani din cariera mea de asistent
social şi asta din mai multe motive.
În primul rând, încă de la începutul acestui an s-au produs schimbari de locaţie ale celor doua
apartamente sociale, proiecte de care sunt responsabilă în mod direct. Aceste schimbări s-au desfăşurat
într-o perioada relativ scurtă de timp, pentru a perturba cât mai puţin programul beneficiarilor. Ele au
fost necesare şi m-am bucurat să putem să lucrăm împreună cu beneficiarii la amenajarea noilor
locuinţe. Tinerii cazaţi în noile locaţii s-au implicat activ şi au avut, la final, satisfacţia că au contribuit,
că şi-au pus amprenta la amenajarea propriului spaţiu de viaţă.
Pe de altă parte, responsabilităţile mele au crescut datorită numărului mare de beneficiari
integraţi în cele două apartamente, timpul a trebuit valorificat la maxim, problemele tinerilor s-au
diversificat şi au apărut unele relativ noi: consumul de substanţe sau conflictele cu legea penală.
Datorită crizei economice, tinerii beneficiari şi-au găsit cu greu locuri de muncă, iar acestea au fost
prost plătite sau pe scurte perioade de timp. Toate aceste probleme ne-au unit şi mai mult, am fost
alături de ei, au fost alături de mine şi am fost impresionată încă o dată de puterea de luptă şi de
permanentă regenerare a acestor tineri.
Cu toate aceste greutăţi, în 2010 am obţinut şi rezultate frumoase şi notabile, o parte dintre
tineri au reuşit să locuiască independent, alţii s-au integrat în familie, iar cu alţii vom continua
colaborarea şi în 2011.
Nu a fost uşor, dar satisfacţiile lucrului bine făcut şi dus până la capăt indiferent de greutăţi sunt
foarte mari. Privesc cu încredere la noul an 2011 şi, alături de colegi, sunt convinsă că vom duce mai
departe spiritul organizaţiei, acela de a veni în ajutorul persoanelor aflate în nevoie.

După atâţia ani petrecuţi în cadrul echipei ASIS, sentimentul principal este de
încredere în colegi, în modul de lucru şi în principiile organizaţiei. La acestea se adaugă şi un
sentiment de siguranţă al lucrului bine făcut, o încredere în capacităţile mele de integrare, de acumulare
de noi şi noi cunoştinţe, de dezvoltare personală şi profesională, adaptare din mers la noi provocări.
Noutatea şi provocarea anului 2010 a reprezentat-o colaborarea mea directă cu Serviciul de
Probaţiune de pe lângă Tribunalul Municipiului Bucureşti, contactul cu tinerii cu probleme
infracţionale. Profilul acestora este unul diferit de cel al beneficiarilor obişnuiţi, prin prisma faptului ca
acestia sunt “obligaţi” prin sentinţele judecatoresti să participe la anumite activităţi, să respecte un
program de supraveghere. De cele mai multe ori însă, am reuşit să depăşim barierele impuse de
situaţiile delicate în care se aflau, să stabilim o comunicare firească şi un program de intervenţie
orientat pe satisfacerea nevoilor lor sociale.
Prin acţiunile si atitudinile noastre am încercat să sprijinim, nu să judecăm, fapt ce a dus la
crearea unor legături bazate pe încredere, confidenţialitate şi respect reciproc, la dezvoltarea unui
dialog constructiv cu toate categoriile de beneficiari.
Anul 2010 a stat sub semnul muncii în echipă, al efortului comun, al iniţiativei şi implicării în
toate proiectele asociaţiei. Închei acest an cu sentimentul că suntem apreciaţi de beneficiari şi
recunoscuţi de comunitatea instituţională ca fiind o organizaţie puternică, serioasă, profesionistă.

Pentru anul 2010, prioritatea mea profesională a fost aceea de a contribui la
dezvoltarea abilităţilor de adaptare socială a persoanelor defavorizate, de a fi de folos familiilor aflate
în nevoie, pentru ca membrii acestora să poată beneficia de o viaţă demnă în societate.
Ca referent în Centrul social al asociaţiei, am derulat activităţi cu copii şi adulţi, care au vizat
dezvoltarea abilităţilor de viaţă independentă, respectiv activităţi de prevenire a abandonului şcolar,
sprijin în efectuarea temelor, activităţi de dezvoltare a creativităţii, de adoptare şi dezvoltare a unui stil
de viaţă sănătos etc.
Comparativ cu alţi colegi din asociaţie, experienţa mea este mai puţin amplă în acest domeniu,
dar simt că în anul care tocmai s-a încheiat am acumulat foarte mult în Centrul social, am câştigat
încredere în mine şi totodată în modul meu de a acţiona. Datorita acestei încrederi, am reuşit să
comunic mai bine cu beneficiarii, să stabilesc un echilibru în relaţionarea cu ei, să le insuflu încrederea
de care, la rândul lor, aveau nevoie pentru a dobândi cunoştinţe şi abilităţi noi.

Privind înapoi la anul care tocmai s-a încheiat pot spune că am încercat să valorific
tot potenţialul meu, abilităţi si resurse personale obtinute in cei peste 11 ani de activitate in toate
programele ASIS. Am reusit sa-mi organizez cu succes activitatea pe cele trei directii de interventie
respectiv, activitatile ca lucrator social stradal, educator in Centrul pentru Familie si referent pentru
cazurile care mi-au fost atribuite.
Pentru mine, cuvântul de ordine al anului 2010 a fost “ colegialitate “. Dacă în alţi ani m-am
concentrat foarte mult pe activităţile profesionale, pe lucrul cu beneficiarii, în acest an, mai mult ca
niciodată, am fost interesat de munca în echipă, de ceea ce ofer eu colegilor şi de modul în care reuşesc
să valorific ceea ce ei au de oferit. Apreciez relaţia de colegialitate pe care o am cu ei, atmosfera
plăcută pe care o simt în echipă.
M-am apropiat de copii cu încrederea că problemele lor au intotdeauna o rezolvare daca tinta este
urmarita cu perseverenta, munca si optimism.
În ceea ce priveşte dificultăţile intampinate in acest an, consider că ele au fost mai ales de natura
birocratică, deoarece unele institutii si-au restrâns domeniul de activitate, altele şi l-au schimbat, iar
altele au încetat să funcţioneze. Dar, cu perseverenţă, am descoperit mai peste tot oameni inimosi cu
care am gasit intotdeauna solutia optima rezolvarii oricarei situatii.

Succesul proiectului „Sunt cetăţean – Îmi cunosc drepturile!”, iniţiat şi derulat de
A.S.I.S. în anul 2009, s-a materializat prin prelungirea, în mod excepţional, cu încă doi ani (2010 şi
2011) a finanţării acordate de Ambasada S.U.A. pentru acest proiect, în cadrul programului
„Democracy Commission Small Grants”.
Bucuria de a vedea impactul proiectului pe care l-am coordonat în 2009 concretizat în
dezvoltarea cunoştinţelor şi aptitudinilor legate de comunicare, organizare, lucrul in echipă,
promovarea drepturilor copilului, ale adolescenţilor participanţi la proiect a fost dublată de
posibilitatea de a lucra în continuare cu copii si adulţi din alte instituţii educaţionale din Bucureşti şi
din localităţi limitrofe, mărind astfel numărul beneficiarilor şi aria acoperită de proiect .
În anul 2010 am avut ca parteneri în proiect nouă licee industriale din Sectoarele 1, 2 şi 4 ale
Bucureştiului (selectate cu sprijinul Inspectoratului Şcolar al Municipiului Bucureşti) şi patru centre
din sistemul de stat de protecţie a copilului, recomandate de Direcţiile de Asistenţă Socială şi Protecţie
a Copilului din Sectoarele 1 şi 4.
Experienţa de coordonare şi derulare a proiectului în 2009 şi rezultatele evaluării acestui prim
an de proiect mi-au fost extrem de utile în luarea unor decizii de optimizare a activităţilor proiectului.
În primul rând, mi-am îmbunătăţit propriile modalităţi de comunicare, atât cu adulţii, cât şi cu
adolescenţii implicaţi in proiect. Am încercat şi am reuşit în mare măsură să înlocuiesc relaţiile formale
cu şi dintre participanţii la proiect cu unele flexibile, bazate pe prietenie, spirit de echipă, deschidere
totală spre ideile şi propunerile celorlalţi, încurajare a creativităţii.
Apoi, în vederea maximizării rezultatelor, am inclus un nou modul de formare, atât pentru
adulţi cât şi pentru copiii „promotori de drepturi”: seminarul „Tehnici moderne de formare”. Formarea
ca formatori atât a adulţilor, cât şi a copiilor „promotori de drepturi” s-a dovedit a fi o resursă
importantă în diseminarea cu succes a informaţiilor si în îmbunătăţirea comunicării şi colaborării dintre
adolescenţi, precum şi dintre aceştia şi adulţi.
Majoritatea suporturilor de curs şi a prezentărilor vizuale realizate în cadrul proiectului - pilot
au fost îmbunătăţite, completate şi valorificate în proiectul extins, în principal pe baza feedback-ului
primit de la participanţi.
Pe parcursul sesiunilor de formare şi informare, jocul şi aplicaţiile practice au fost folosite în
mai mare masură, atât pentru destinderea atmosferei, cât şi pentru asimilarea într-un mod cât mai
eficient şi agreabil a cunoştinţelor şi aptitudinilor.
Şi ... rezultatele nu au întârziat să apară: adolescenţii au devenit mai conştienţi de drepturile şi
responsabilităţile lor civice, au învăţat cum să comunice eficient cu colegii lor şi cu adulţii, cum să-şi
exprime opiniile într-un mod coerent, argumentat şi convingător, pentru a obţine sprijinul persoanelor
şi instituţiilor responsabile cu protecţia drepturilor copilului.
Şi, nu în ultimul rând, cu ocazia concursului de cunoştinţe „Sunt cetăţean – Îmi cunosc
drepturile!” organizat la Poiana Braşov în iunie 2010, întreaga echipă a proiectului, copii şi adulţi, ne-
am bucurat de aprecierile deosebite ale distinşilor oaspeţi care ne-au onorat cu prezenţa: doamnele
Libby Gitenstein, soţia Ambasadorului S.U.A. la Bucureşti, Patricia Guy, Consilierul de Cultură şi
Presă al Ambasadei şi Mihaela Paraschivescu, coordonatoarea programului „Democracy Commission
Small Grants”, în cadrul căruia a fost finanţat proiectul nostru.

Anul 2010 a reprezentat un an dificil pentru mine, atat pe plan personal, cat si pe plan
profesional. Pentru ca flexibilitate a fost cuvantul anului trecut, a trebuit sa ma adaptez la schimbarile
si modificarile de program din timpul anului. Mai mult, din experienta mea relativ scurta la ASIS,
apreciez ca anul ce tocmai a trecut a fost unul plin de activitati noi, cazuri complicate, dar si multe
satisfactii.
Pe langa responsabilitatile pe care le are fiecare in “Centru pentru Familie” , munca la ASIS inseamna
multa rabdare, profesionalism., daruire, incredere in cel cu care lucrezi, dezvoltare personala continua
si placerea de a lucra cu persoane ce nu au avut prea mult noroc.
Responsabilitatile mele pe parcursul anului 2010 au fost multiple si diverse. De la asistarea si
reprezentarea familiilor nevoiase la anumite institutii si pana la organizarea zilnica a programului din
centrul de consiliere si sprijin pentru parinti si copii.
Satisfactiile profesionale importante pe anul trecut au fost: integrarea pe piata muncii prin orientare
profesionala a 3 adulti si 1 minor; referirea mai multor beneficiari catre institutii care ofera cursuri de
calificare si cu care am pastrat o legatura stransa si constructiva; inscrierea la scoala si la gradinite a
unui numar semnificativ de copii; cresterea nivelului de scolarizare prin suport educational si invatarea
unor tehnici de memorare si atentie a copiilor ce frecventeaza centrul ASIS; cresterea nivelului de
educatie prin activitati de informare, prevenire si indrumare a copiilor centrului nostru; colaborarea cu
numeroase institutii de stat si non-guvernamentale ce ofera servicii sociale, medicale, de orientare
scolara si profesionala.
Din cele 10 familii al caror referent am fost pe parcursul anului 2010 si altor 4 , care sunt in
monitorizare, pot spune ca 7 din ele si-au ridicat nivelul de trai prin gasirea unui loc de munca,
calificare pe plan profesional, orientare scolara si schimbarea mentalitatii privind scolarizarea fetelor
din familie.
In concluzie, acolo unde exista munca facuta cu drag, exista si satisfactie, iar daca ar fi sa spun intr-un
cuvant ce semnificatie are anul 2010 pentru mine as zice implinire.

The end of 2010 is special to me: I started this year with some concerns related to the
development of the organization in conditions of economic crisis. Not knowing what changes will
occur and how we will pass another year of crisis, our objectives were focused on keeping the balance
between resources and results and on strengthening the organization.
At this time of evaluation, I can say with certainty that the year 2010, although less encouraging in
terms of funds raised, was not a year when we "survived" or "resisted". On the contrary, it was a period
when we further developed in terms of professional performance and acquirements, we went on
helping the people around us, we changed destinies, we fulfilled dreams. Our „secret”? People. At a
first glance, an ordinary and perhaps too often invoked answer. At a closer look, all that matters. Along
the years, I tried to bring in and around this organization people who respect their work, valuable
people who have confidence in themselves, in others, and most of all in their ideals. People who have
the strength to dream and the power to translate the dream into reality. These are my colleagues in the
executive team, the members of the Board of Trustees, our traditional donors and, not least, our
partners. It is them whom I thank at the end of this year, towards whom my thoughts go at this
moment.
First of all, it is about the ASIS team, the fifteen colleagues who, with dedication and responsibility,
have contributed, each in his/her field of activity, to accomplish the objectives set. The programs of the
Association, the results achieved in each of them, are not only the outcome of the teamwork, but they
are equally obtained through individual contribution, hard work, patience and constant desire of self-
improvement.
The members of the Board have brought an important contribution. In this year of crisis I felt them
even closer to the executive staff in a joint effort to overcome a difficult moment. My capacity of
director implied a permanent mediation of the relations between the Board and the employees, with a
purpose to reorient and adjust the work strategy, the objectives of the organization to the economic and
social reality that we have been confronted with. The cooperation and good communication between
the Board and the executive staff have largely contributed to the success of the organization in the year
which just ended. The foreign members of the Board played an important role, as they helped us with
their experience and international contacts, enabling the access to external financing sources.
It gives me great pleasure to thank our traditional donors on this occasion too, the people and
organizations who know us, trust us and have always valued our work. Without their constant support,
ASIS would have not been able to achieve outstanding results in an extremely difficult period for the
entire Romanian society, thus proving its professional reliability and competence.
I wish a good, professionally rewarding year to all our internal and external partners, and I invite them
to support us in 2011 too, as they did in the previous years, in order to respond more promptly and
efficiently to the needs of our peers.

My position in ASIS and the many years when I worked here would justify at this
end of year rather an overall evaluation of the team progress and of the results achieved in the projects.
It is true that at every evaluation we talk about expectations and achievements, objectives and results,
personal contribution and accumulations.
However the year 2010 meant something special to me, unlike other years when I worked here.
It is the year when I approached closer one of the projects of the Association, which is relatively new
to me, and I will dwell on it here below.
The project „ Family Centre” is addressing families at high risk of abandonment and social
exclusion. Since 2008 this project is carried out continuously with notable results. 2010 was a year
when most requests have been recorded, this being perhaps also a consequence of the economic crisis
that Romania has undergone. But more than material support, these families needed emotional support,
information, assistance and counseling.
In 2010 we tried to structure the program of the Center in a manner that enabled us to focus on
individual work with each family separately. We considered family as a whole and each key-work or
employee of the Center structured his/her activities to contribute to supporting and developing the
family in its whole.
Among the priority problems identified with the adult was the lack of a job. Most of them have
lost their job searching abilities as they didn’t have stable jobs for long periods of time. For this
category of beneficiaries we have organized sessions of information and support for acquiring the
abilities and skills for retraining, searching and keeping a job.
Regarding the children, the main problems identified were related to education and leisure. The
children were helped and guided for acquiring the habit of doing their homework daily. In the mean
time, in order to attract them to attend the Center daily, we got them involved in creative activities such
as making jewelry, painting, as well as group activities, aiming to develop their interpersonal
relationship skills and their self-confidence.
Even after so much time of working with this organization, I do not consider inappropriate to
say that I'm still learning. I learned this year too and, in my turn, I tried to share with others what is
valuable in my work experience with the beneficiaries, but also in terms of teamwork.

From a professional perspective, 2010 was characterized by my involvement in all
the projects of the organization, a position that gave me the opportunity to have an overview of the
existing development needs of both the services provided to beneficiaries, as well as of the team as a
whole.
I enthusiastically involved myself in the project "I’m a Citizen - I Know My Rights" and I believe that
the positive feedback which came from the professionals participating in training sessions organized
by the Association fully justified the continuation of this project in 2010 too.
Regarding the independent life skills program developed in the social apartments, a novelty in 2010
were the visits of the representatives of some governmental and nongovernmental institutions, some of
which became interested in developing similar services further to the exchange of experience.
In the Family Counseling Center, we have conducted activities with a large number of beneficiaries
from different areas of the Capital. Our good cooperation with other organizations active in the street
contributed to efficiently structuring the joint intervention for the benefit of the common beneficiaries.
The psychological counseling services have expanded significantly in 2010 also due to working with a
special category of beneficiaries, namely those referred by the Probation Service near the Bucharest
Court of Law. The counseling needs of the beneficiaries who are in contact with the criminal justice
system were a constant challenge for me in the year which just ended.
In the mean time, the numerous contacts made this year with our traditional partners and not only, gave
me the opportunity not only to promote the image of the association, but also to contribute, with the
expertise gained, to the development of the social services offered locally and even nationally.
In conclusion, the year 2010 was full of professional challenges, a year when things were moving and
evolved constantly, a year when I have acquired new information and skills, but also a year when I had
the opportunity to share with others from my professional experience, but also from that of the
institution as a whole, as a social organization.

I think that 2010 was one of the most difficult years of my career as a social worker
and that is for several reasons.
First, since the beginning of this year there have been changes in the locations of the two social
apartments, projects that I am directly in charge of. These changes took place in a relatively short
period of time, in order to disturb as little as possible the program of the beneficiaries. They were
necessary and I was happy to work together with the beneficiaries to refurbish the dwellings. The
youngsters hosted in these locations participated actively and, in the end, they had the satisfaction of
bringing their contribution and the touch of their personality to the decoration of their own living
place.
On the other hand, my responsibilities have increased further to the large number of beneficiaries
integrated in the two apartments, time had to be fully exploited, youth issues became more diverse and
relatively new problems arose: the consumption of drugs or the conflicts with criminal law. Because of
the economic crisis, the young beneficiaries faced difficulties in finding jobs, which were poorly paid
or short time jobs. All these problems have united us even more, we were by their side, they were by
my side and I was impressed once again by the power of struggle and of ongoing regeneration of these
young people.
Despite all these difficulties, we obtained good and notable results in 2010 and notable: some of the
youngsters were able to live independently, others were integrated into their families, and with others
we continue to work in 2011 too.
It was not easy, but the satisfaction of the work well done and accomplished regardless of difficulties is
very high. I look with confidence to the year 2011 and, together with my colleagues, I am convinced
that we will carry forward the essence of our organization, that of assisting the needy people.

After so many years as a member of the A.S.I.S. team, the main feeling is of trusting my
colleagues, the way of working and the principles of the organization.
To these are added a safety feeling of the work well done, the confidence in my capability to
integrate, to accumulate more and more knowledge, to develop myself personally and professionally,
to adapt to new challenges on the fly.
The novelty and the challenge of 2010 were my direct collaboration with the Probation Service
near the Bucharest Court of Law and the contact with young delinquents. Their profile is different
from the usual beneficiaries, by the fact that they are "forced" by judicial decisions to participate to
certain activities and to comply with a monitoring program. Most of the times though, we managed to
overcome the barriers raised by some difficult situations which they faced and to establish a natural
communication and an intervention program focused on their social needs.
Through our actions and attitudes we seek to support, not to judge, which led to the creation of
links based on trust, confidentiality and mutual respect, and to the development of a constructive
dialogue with all categories of beneficiaries.
The year 2010 was marked by teamwork, joint effort, initiative and involvement in all the
projects of the association. I close this year with the feeling that we are appreciated by our
beneficiaries and recognized by the institutional community as a strong, serious and professional
organization.

For 2010, my professional priority was to help develop the social adaptation skills of
disadvantaged people, to be useful for the families in need, for their members to benefit of a dignified
life in society.
As a key-worker in the social center of the association, I carried out activities with children and
adults, meant to develop independent life skills, to prevent school dropout, to assist in doing
homework, to develop creativity, to adopt and develop a healthy life style, etc.
My experience is less extensive in this area compared with other colleagues from the
association, but I feel that in the year which just ended I have gained a lot in the social center, I gained
confidence in myself and also in my way of acting. Thanks to this confidence I was able to
communicate better with the beneficiaries, to achieve a balanced relationship with them, to generate
the confidence which, in their turn, they needed in order to acquire new knowledge and skills.

Looking back at the year that just ended, I can say that I tried to capitalize my full potential, the
skills and personal resources acquired in over 11 years of activity in all the A.S.I.S. programs. I
managed to successfully organize my work on the three ways of intervention respectively outreach
social worker, educator in the Counseling Center and key-worker for the cases assigned to me.
For me the key word of the year 2010 was “collegiality”. While the other years I focused
mainly on professional activities, on working with the beneficiaries, this year, more than ever, I was
interested in teamwork, what I am offering my colleagues and how I manage to turn to account what
they have to offer. I appreciate the collegial relationship developed with them, the good atmosphere
that I feel in the team.
I approached the children with the confidence that one can always find a solution to their
problems if the goal is pursued with perseverance, hard work and optimism.
Regarding the difficulties encountered this year, I think that they were mainly bureaucratic, as
some institutions have narrowed their field of activity, others have changed it and others have ceased
their work. However, with perseverance, we found almost everywhere hearty people together with
whom we always found the best solution to any situation.

The success of the project „I’m a Citizen – I Know My Rights!” initiated and
developed by ASIS in 2009 has resulted in the extension, exceptionally, for further two years (2010
and 2011) of the grant awarded by the U.S. Embassy for this project, within the Program “Democracy
Commission Small Grants”.
The joy of seeing the impact of the project that I coordinated in 2009 resulted in the development of
the knowledge and skills of communication, organization, teamwork, promotion of the children’s
rights, of the adolescents participating in the project was backed by the opportunity to work further on
with children and adults from other educational institutions in Bucharest and neighboring localities,
thus increasing the number of beneficiaries and the area covered by the project.
Our project partners in 2010 were nine vocational high-schools in the Sectors 1, 2 and 4 of Bucharest
(selected with the support of the Bucharest School Inspectorate) and four centers in the state system of
child protection recommended by the Directorate for Social Care and Protection of Children in the
Sectors 1 and 4.
The experience in coordinating and carrying out the project in 2009 and the evaluation results of this
first project year helped me a lot in making some decisions to optimize the project activities.
First, I improved my own ways of communicating, both with the adults and with the teens involved in
the project. I tried and I managed to largely replace the formal relationships with and among the
project participants, with some flexible ones, based on friendship, teamwork, total openness to the
ideas and proposals of others, thus encouraging creativity.
Then, in order to maximize results, we have included a new training module for both adults and the
children “promoters of rights”: the seminar "Modern Training Techniques”. The training of trainers for
both adults and the children “promoters of rights” proved to be an important asset in the successful
dissemination of information and in improving communication and collaboration among teenagers, as
well as between them and adults.
Most printed handouts and visual presentations produced in the pilot project were improved, completed
and capitalized in the extended project, mainly based on the feedback received from participants.
During the training and information sessions, play and practical applications have been used to a
greater extent, both for relaxing the atmosphere, and for assimilating knowledge and skills in an
efficient and pleasant way.
And ... the results were immediate: teenagers have become more aware of their civic rights and
responsibilities, have learned how to communicate effectively with peers and adults, how to express
their views in a coherent, well-argued and persuasive way to get support from the individuals and
institutions responsible for child rights protection.
And last but not least, during the contest of knowledge "I’m a Citizen – I Know My Rights!" held in
Poiana Brasov in June 2010, the entire project team, children and adults, we enjoyed the great
appreciation of the distinguished guests who honored us with their presence: Mrs. Libby Gitenstein,
wife of the U.S. Ambassador to Bucharest, Mrs. Patricia Guy, Culture and Press Counselor of the
Embassy, and Mrs. Mihaela Paraschivescu, coordinator of the Program "Democracy Commission
Small Grants", in which our project was funded

The year 2010 was difficult for me, both personally and professionally. As “flexibility” was the word
of the last year, I had to adapt to the program changes occurred along the year. Furthermore, based on
my relatively short experience with ASIS, I could say that the year which just past was full of new
activities, complicated cases, but also very rewarding.
In addition to the responsibilities that each of us has in Center, the work at ASIS means a lot of
patience and professionalism., dedication, trust in the person with whom you work, constant personal
development and pleasure to work with people who have not had that much luck.
My responsibilities during 2010 were many and diverse: from assisting needy families and
representing them in certain institutions to daily organizing the schedule of the counseling center.
Last year, the important professional satisfaction were: labor market integration through vocational
guidance of three adults and one juvenile; more beneficiaries referred to institutions that offer
vocational training courses and with whom we kept a close and constructive contact; school and
kindergarten enrollment of a significant number of children; increasing the level of schooling of the
children who attend the ASIS Center, through educational support and certain memory and attention-
focusing techniques; a rise in the level of education through activities of information, prevention and
mentoring the children of our center; collaboration with many state institutions and non-governmental
organizations that provide social, medical, educational and vocational guidance services.
Of the ten families with whom I worked as a key-worker in 2010, and other four who are monitored at
present, I can say that seven of them raised their standard of living by finding a job, by vocational
training, school guidance, and change of mentality about schooling the girls of the family.
In conclusion, when the work is done with love there is satisfaction too, and if I were to say in a word
what the year 2010 meant to me, I would say “accomplishment”.
