Criteria applying to home and/or host institution:

- both HEIs are EUC holders

- STA is part of a valid inter-institutional or bilateral agreement

- all requirements regarding teacher selection shall be fully transparent, documented and made available to all parties involved in the selection process

- the grant award procedure shall be made public with clear indications on eligibility, exclusion, selection and award criteria

- priority shall be given to teachers going abroad for the first time

- participating HEIs maintain a complete list of all teachers applying for STA

- the list of selected beneficiaries shall be published by appropriate means

- every HEI shall send an intermediate and final report to its NA



Financial regulations:

- STA grant is contribution to travel and subsistence costs

- Beneficiary institution may transfer up to 20% of the amount of STA assignements and 20% of the amount of STT towards each other

- NEW: zero grant STA are allowed!

° subsistence costs are calculated on basis of daily or weekly rates ° (Nota bene: Respect maxima per country of destination!)° a week equals 5 full working days ° travel costs are paid on basis of real costs



Criteria applying to mobile teaching staff:

- teaching staff shall be employed by a HEI holding an EUC

- the teaching staff shall be a national of a participating country or recognised by the country in which he/she is resident as a refugee, stateless person or permanent resident.

- teacher will provide a short “teaching programme” endorsed by all involved parties (mobile teacher, home and host institution). Its essential elements are:

° content of the teaching programme ° overall aims and objectives ° expected results ° added value of the mobility



Minimal requirement related to implementation of STA:

- no minimum duration but obligation to deliver at least 5 hours of teaching

- the maximum duration is 6 weeks.

Paper work:

- EUC

- inter-institutional or bilateral agreements

- grant agreement between NA and HEI including STA activities

- grant agreement between sending HEI and mobile teacher

- teaching programme (see above)

- reporting

- confirmation of successful completion



Examples of implementation at the MDW:

„Norwegian“ week:(Incoming)

- combination of incoming TAs of different fields (from composition & music theory to instrumentalists and etnomusicology/traditional music) putting focus on the country of origine

- exhibition of achievements in the fields and presentation of specific instruments in cooperation with external organisation

- leading artist (invited by professional concert agency)



Procedure of ERASMUS STA applications (Incomings):

- The coordinator of the partner HEI sends the complete ERASMUS application to our Office.

- We forward the application for a teaching visit to the concerned instituteS for decision.

- Any decision (acceptance or refusal) is reported back by us directly to the International Office of the partner HEI.

- In case of acceptance, direct contact to hosting institution or teacher is provided in order to prepare the STA duly (time table, content of the master class, information to interested students and teaching colleagues, filling of the teaching programme).

- In case of refusal, reasons for not-acceptance are provided on request of the concerned teacher.

- during implementation of the STA, the International Office makes out a confirmation of stay and signs the teaching programme.

- on request, the International Office sends out a list of hotel suggestions where the mobile teacher can book his accomodation for the period of his stay in Vienna, if appropriate.

„Lithuanian “ week on contemporary music:(Incoming follow-up to outgoing project)

- cooperation of more institutes at host institution to prepare for the week (from composition & music theory departments to instrumentalists and chamber music institute) – accent is on contemporary music of the country

- leading artist




„Lithuanian traditional music project”:including field study on specific topic on site(Incoming and Outgoing project):

- combination of scientific work and performance activities (starting from theoretical studies on the country and on the common topic going on to artistic performance in local festivals and field excursion on site and finishing with the presentation of own folk music to local interested audience)

- topic of interest for both involved HEIs

- study field and topic is part of the study curricula

- high attractivity for participating students as realized by travelling




„Traditionen der Klaviermusik in Frankreich“:(Incoming project)

- integration in existing cycle of country-related studies with strong pedagogical and practical approach (theoretical sessions, concerts by guest teachers and students and master class activities)

- one leading coordinator, but more institutes inside the University involved

- at same time: topic-related exhibition

- additional offer to regular studies

- leading artists coming for the only purpose of the event

- cooperation with external organisations (French Embassy, Culture France,…)
