Der «Garbage Patch» ist eine riesige Abfalldeponie mitten im Pazifik, etwa vier mal so gross wie Deutschland. Angetrieben von den Strömungen, sammeln sich hier unvorstellbare Mengen von Plastik. Dabei ist das, was man sieht, nicht einmal das Schlimmste: Der grösste Teil des biologisch nicht abbaubaren Kunststoffs wird zu kleinsten Krümeln zerrieben, die das Meer und die Fische vergiften.
