Ökologische LandwirtschaftSeit 1995 betreibt das Kloster ökologischen Landbau.Klassische Fruchtfolgen und schonende Bewirtschaftungsichern die Fruchtbarkeit der Böden. Auf den Äckern wachsenDinkel, Hafer, Triticale und Ackergras. Das biologischeGetreide wird unter anderem für das Andechser Brot derHofpfisterei in München produziert. Der Klosterforst mit seinenNadel- und Mischwaldbeständen wird ebenso nachhaltigbewirtschaftet – ohne den Einsatz von Pestiziden.

Ecological farmingThe monastery has been engaged in organic agriculture since

1995. Classic crop rotation and sustainable land management

ensure the fertility of the soil. Spelt, oats, triticale and grass

grow in the fields. The organic cereals are also produced to

make the bread known as „Andechser Brot” sold by

„Hofpfisterei” in Munich. With its coniferous trees and mixed

woodlands, the monastery's forestry areas are likewise

managed sustainably – without use of pesticides.

Agricoltura biologicaDal 1995 l’abbazia pratica l’agricoltura biologica. Rotazioni

classiche delle colture e una coltivazione rispettosa assicurano

la fertilità dei terreni. Nei campi crescono farro, avena, triticale

ed erba. I cereali biologici vengono prodotti anche per il „pane

di Andechs“ del panificio „Hofpfisterei“ di Monaco. Anche le

foreste appartenenti all’abbazia, con i suoi boschi di conifere e

misti, vengono gestite in modo sostenibile – senza l’impiego di

pesticidi.

Church & Monastery As religious center near Lake Ammersee, the Andechs

Monastery and with it the oldest Bavarian pilgrimage site have

attracted pilgrims over centuries. As an estate of Munich’s

St. Boniface’s Benedictine Abbey Kloster Andechs finances the

charitable and scientific fields of activities of the abbey in

Munich. The unique combination of Benedictine hospitality,

Bavarian way of life and Baroque culture is pure „joy for body

Klosterbrauerei AndechsDie Klosterbrauerei ist heute in Deutschland die größte von nurnoch wenigen authentischen Klosterbrauereien, die eine existie -rende Ordensgemeinschaft konzernunabhängig führt. Sie gehörtden Benediktinern von Sankt Bonifaz in München und Andechs.Gebraut und abgefüllt wird nur vor Ort in Andechs. Seit 1455pflegen die Mönche die benediktinische Brautradition. Ausge -suchte Rohstoffe bezieht die Klosterbrauerei nur von bayerischenLieferanten. Monastery BreweryThe Andechs monastery brewery is now the largest of only a

small number of monastery breweries still run on an indepen-

dent basis by an existing religious order community in

Germany. It belongs to the Benedictine monks of Saint

Boniface in Munich and Andechs. Brewing and bottling take

place solely at local level in Andechs. The monks have been

observing the Benedictine brewing tradition since 1455.

Specially selected raw materials from Bavarian suppliers, recipes

handed down over generations according to the Bavarian

Purity Law and time- and energy-consuming brewing tech-

niques, such as the multiple mash process and the dual-tank

process are a feature of the brewery’s quality philosophy. The

latest brewing technology, cold fermentation and long storage

make the Andechs monastery beers a real treat. They are available

in Germany, almost throughout Europe and in the United States

and elsewhere. The monastery brewery is a profit-making

business and is dedicated to the religious principles of sustain-

able growth. The technical infrastructure used in its brewing

methods is not focused on maximising profit, but rather on

maintaining the identity and integrity of the monastery brand.

Birrificio del monasteroIl birrificio del monastero di Andechs è oggi in Germania il più

grande degli ormai pochi autentici birrifici gestiti in un mona-

stero da una comunità appartenente ad un ordine religioso esi-

stente. Il birrificio appartiene ai monaci benedettini di San

Bonifacio a Monaco e Andechs. La produzione e l'imbottiglia-

mento avvengono solo sul posto ad Andechs. I monaci coltivano

la tradizione birraia benedettina dal 1455. Materie prime scelte

provenienti da fornitori bavaresi, antiche ricette nel rispetto del

principio bavarese della purezza e un processo di produzione

richiedente tempo ed energia, come la procedura a più ammo-

stamenti e la procedura a due serbatoi, connotano la loro filo-

sofia della qualità. Tecnica birraia ultramoderna, fermentazione

a freddo e lungo stoccaggio rendono le birre dell'abbazia di

Andechs un piacere supremo. Esse sono disponibili tra l'altro

in Germania, quasi in tutta Europa e negli USA. Il birrificio del

monastero lavora orientato all'ottenimento di profitti ma si

sente al contempo vincolato alle prescrizioni monastiche di

una crescita sostenibile. L'infrastruttura per la produzione della

birra non punta alla massimizzazione dei guadagni, bensì alla

Andechs Monastery Butcher's ShopBavarian sausages, Bavarian meat loaf, smoked sausage

spread and a range of other delicacies are produced by the

monastery's own butcher's. The meat is supplied fresh from

slaughterhouses in the region. The refurbished monastery but-

cher's shop offers regional sausage and cold cut

specialities on the Holy

Mountain. Distinct in

taste and colour – loyal

customers appreciate this

quality. Opening times of

Macelleria dell’abbazia di AndechsLa macelleria dell’abbazia prepara salsicce bianche, il

„Leberkäse“, salsicce di fegato affumicate e molte altre preliba-

tezze. La carne macellata in Baviera proviene dai macelli della

regione. Completamente rinnovata, la macelleria dell’abbazia è

l’indirizzo giusto sul Sacro Monte per le specialità insaccate

della regione. Caratteristiche nel sapore e nel colore – sono

cooperation with Schwarze & Schlichte at the foot of the Holy

Mountain. At the distillery's visitor centre, we offer visitors the

Guided tours and conferencesThe public baroque apartments of the „Fürstentrakt” can be hired

for conferences, congresses and private parties, as can the

„Historic Stables” and the „Florian-Stadl” barn at the foot of the

Holy Mountain.

Various guided tours are available for the Pilgrimage Church and

Monastery Brewery, and historical walks are also offered over the

Holy Mountain – all by prior registration.
