Pendant plus de 25 ans, Nidecker développe, innove et s’engage dans la voie de la recherche pour trouver les petits détails qui feront les boards de demain. 2010 marquera un tournant avec l’arrivée du cambre inversé rocker (CAMROCK). Depuis que je produis des snowboards, ma principale préoc-cupation est de faire sortir les planches avec une courbe de cambre parfaite. 25 ans après, on la révolutionne avec une nouvelle courbe qui améliore les performances, plus de pop et plus de fun en freestyle.

Mais ce n’est pas tout, de nouveaux matériaux arrivent, les champs skate, pour remplacer les champs ABS ainsi que de nouvelles encres waterprints.Nidecker s’engage dans la voie d’une construction respectu-euse de l’environnement en utilisant des matériaux comme le lin, mais aussi en recyclant de l’acier pour les carres ainsi que les chutes de semelles. De nombreuses boards bénéficient du label FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) qui assure une ges-tion écologique et éthique du bois dont sont fait les noyaux Nidecker.

But this is not all, new materials, continually arrive on the scene. For example, skate sidewalls to replace the ABS ones, as well as new ink waterprints.Nidecker is engaged in a construction, which respects the en-vironment, by utilizing such products as organic linseed fiber and by recycling steel for use in producing edges as well as excess base material, that is recycled for one of our freestyle models. Many of our boards bear the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) label which certifies that the wood used by Nidecker is ecologically friendly and ethically sound.

A fibreglass developed and produced especially for our snowboards, a control of effec-tive and precise torsion. For the best edge grip. Added by a 100% bidirectional carbon fabric giv-ing more ability to react to the board.

The new and better high molecu-lar weight extruded base is more resistant to abrasion, has a very fast glide and is easy to repair.

Poplar core and beech. That gives the board more comfort and is more robust. The real all terrain core.

This core combines different wood densities and Ash to give more reactivity and resis-tance. This makes the board more lively under your feet.

Our long term experience in materials and woodcraft have lead us to the construction of Mastercore. An assembly of woods of different densities and essences, gives this extra light core, the best weigh-performance-power ratio.

Our sintered base added with carbon nano particules as well as additives, creates a better glide. This base is specially developed by Nidecker, and is very resistant to impact.

In searching to produce a more sustainable base by incorporating 40% of recycled base material. We were surprised by the result, the recycled product integrated to our new 8800 base, increases perfor-mance: more glide and more resis-tance and no loss of materiel with the Nidecker additives.

Fibreglass reinforced at 30 de-grees axis for the tolerant flex in torsion while improving the ability to react to the board. In addition, the multiaxial fibers avoid vibrations.

The fibreglass angled to 90 degrees, of the axis offers the best flexibility control and resis-tance.

Nidecker use the skate 7 ply technology to reinforce the edge and have more POP. In the construction, we integrate elastomer rubber, which gives the board a perfect balance be-tween POP performance and shock absorp-tion.

Side made of very resistant teak wood, with a coat of soft ABS on the edges to absorb vibra-tions.

Take an easy comparison: a normal knife and a bread knife. If you want them to cut well, you need to sharpen the normal knife more often, but whereas you don’t need to do that with the bread knife. Since we produced the first European made snowboards in our Swiss factory, some 25 years ago, we’ve been “committed to the ride.” This motivates us to relentlessly pursue innovation with the legacy of precision craftsmanship, inherited from our forefathers. Who already back in 1887 pioneered woodcraft with their original factory. Since those days, Nidecker has constantly innovated in many fields, winning awards as well as obtaining numerous international patents.

The Rolle Switzerland factory, is primarily used for R&D, design functions and limited runs of high-end boards. New designs are built here and tested in the Alps, such as our nearby snow labs; Verbier or Chamonix, located an hour away. All our board are made in our own factory, which is a considerable advantage: We control the technology and the quality, during the whole production process.

Recently Nidecker partnered with the Bern University of Applied Science to study how vertically laminated wood cores, could be bonded without harmful petrochemicals used in assembling (gluing) the core. The outcome: WELDED WOOD, that was awarded the EUROSIMA SNOWBOARD TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION AWARD. This unique process, bonds the wood together by generating energy through friction. This creates a transformation of the wood structure through vibration and friction, giving an unrivalled bond and reducing the weight of the core by removing the need for adhesives. Nidecker is the first company, in the world to be able to weld two pieces of woodcore and commercialize a final product

The EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) is a leading Swiss technological institute, where numerous innovations are born. Through long term collaboration between EPFL and NIDECKER, numerous technological researches have helped NIDECKER, develop boards with exceptional stability and comfort. Year after year, the laboratory of vibratory mechanics, has developed a digi-tal modeling of boards that has allowed, an extremely precise modeling. This enables Nidecker to precisely design the appropriate models of boards before realizing prototypes, and so helps anticipate the capacity of absorption of the worst vibrations in real life conditions. For many years NIDECKER practiced scientific consulting, in order to stay aware of technological innovations, stem-ming from high-technology industries such as aeronautics or water sports. NIDECKER also works relentlessly to lower the weight of board structures, while simultaneously analyzing the vibratory phenomena. As a matter of fact, the Ultralight model is not the fruit of the fate, but rather the result of long scientific research.

NIDECKER and SWAROVSKI have collaborated with the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL) to manufacture and exhibit original and offbeat snowboards at the 2008 Milan Furniture Fair. Under the leadership of Pierre Keller, director of the ECAL, and Augustin Scott de Martinville, selected students were able to “customise” snowboards manufactured by Nidecker by graphically inlaying Swarovski crystals. The result was highly successful, as there was non stop action on the ECAL stand were the glittering snowboards on display were constantly photographed as if they were Rockstars... The outcome of this collaboration, is that two of our 2010 models (Score & Vibes) were designed by ECAL students.

Nidecker has become the first exclusive strategic development partner of DuPont™ KEVLAR® in the snowboard market.The good cooperation led to common developments and patent applications for a high performance Snowboard Binding: the ACT, composed almost totally of DuPont™ ZYTEL® and HYTREL® hi-tech polymers.The alliance between our R&D department and the engineers of DuPont™ has allowed Nidecker to progress towards the future and define the composites and polymers that integrate our products today and for the years to come.

Effective energy saving installation were included, following the rebuilding of our Swiss factory. Not only was an alternative heat-ing system installed, that uses recuperated wood shavings from our cores, that helps heat our facilities. The water used to cool our presses is recycled and used to heat the main factory building through a radiant floor warming system.

In addition, for each board built, a tree is planted thanks to the partner-ship with the FSC-labelled eco-friendly core. This board also belongs to the « Eco line » label. Freestylers seeking for the « random color placement » originality and concerned about the future of our planet. Designed by Jim Zbinden (THU Design Group), this board is an achievement in ecological awareness - based on today¹s values.

Unsere Creative Abteilung hat sich nochmals selbst übertroffen. Neben dem ökologisch ko-rrekten Aufbrauchen von so genannten Abschnitten für den Belag wird dank FSC Zertifikat für jedes hergestellte Board auch noch ein Bäumchen gepflanzt. Logisch, dass dieses Freestyletool folglich auch mit „Eco line“ Label daher kommt.Für alle, die ein individuelles Board suchen, welches nicht wie jedes andere auf dem Berg daher kommt und auch noch einen sinnvollen Beitrag an unsere Natur leistet. For its 4th year, The Helvet Underground model leaves the more conventional digi-tal graphic format, to propose a more primitive organic artistic approach. In refer-ence to Jean Tinguely, a internationally renowned Swiss artist. This snowboard is only available in “core shops”.The hand drawn graphical approach designed by JMZ, uses different techniques (crayons, ballpoint pens, pencils, paint, felt pens ) it brings a unique three fold blend. This board is more than a snowboard, it’s a piece of art for collectors and other enthusiasts.

Pour cette 4ème année, la board The Helvet Underground quitte le graphisme "computerizé" pour rencontrer l'Art.
