Door was pried open.

R/P, (Northland Mall Property Manager for the City of Southfield) stated Southfield FD personnel were inside the building conducting an inspection and observed an unsecured exterior door. Officers located the door on the west side of the building. The door is located on the upper level of the building. The metal strip that secured the door with metal screws was pried away from the bottom to the top. The lock on the door was also not functioning but did not appear damaged. It is unknown when the door became unsecured.

29000 Southfield Rd. (Commercial- Electronic/Cell Phone)

A rock was thrown through the window.

On 12/27/2019 at approx. 4:00am Southfield PD Dispatch put out a BOL from Royal Oak PD stating a B&E had occurred at a Cell Phone Store in their city and the suspect vehicle went west from that location. Officer was making his way to the same Cell Phone Store in our city in the 29000 Block of Southfield Rd. when he observed a White SUV (possibly a Chevy Equinox or Nissan Rogue) with no lights on leaving the parking lot from the exit of the shopping center. Officer turned his vehicle around to get behind the SUV when it took off at a high rate of speed. Officer was unable to catch up to the vehicle and the vehicle fled N/B on Southfield Rd. into Beverly Hills. Another unit checked the Cell Phone Store in our city and there was a good B&E. Several Cell Phones and Electronics were taken. (Same as in Royal Oak) Surveillance Video shows at 4:03am three unknown males throwing a rock through the window and entering business. One male was wearing a black mask/black hoodie/black pants/black gloves. The second male was wearing a black mask/black hoodie/black pants/grey gloves. The third male was wearing a grey mask/black hoodie/grey pants/black gloves. One of the males grabbed the rock and threw it through one of the cabinets and began grabbing merchandise out of it. The other two males were observed ripping phones off their display holders. The male wearing all black attire walked behind the counter and grabbed unknown merchandise. At 4:05am all three suspects fled the store.

21000 Evergreen Rd. (Church)

Lock box with two keys was forcefully removed and taken.

R/P for Church in the 21000 Block of Evergreen Rd. states she noticed the lock box was missing from the outside door knob of the kitchen door. R/P looked around the area and noticed the metal hook, that goes around the door knob, laying on the ground outside the sanctuary door. The metal hook did not have any pry or sawing marks on it but rather looked as if it was ripped off with force. The lock box containing two keys, one to the kitchen door and the second to the church doors, were never located. R/P contacted a locksmith to replace the locks on the church. R/P stated the last time she seen the lock box on the door knob was on 12/26/2019 around 5:00pm. Nothing was reported to be missing or disturbed inside the Church.

26000 W Eight Mile Rd. (Commercial- Oil Change)

A rock was thrown through the front window of business.

Video Surveillance shows an unknown subject dressed in a tan coat, blue jeans, and dark colored gloves in the back of the stores exterior pulling on the electrical power box and phone lines. The subject was then seen walking through the inside of the store. The rear door was locked and secure, it appeared the unknown subject went around to the front of the business and threw a large brown colored rock through the double pane glass window and made entry into the store. Nothing was missing from the store.

Apartment door deadbolt was broken and lying on floor.

R/P stated he just returned home and he discovered someone broke into his apartment between 10:30am- 2:00pm. TV's, clothes, shoes & jewelry were taken. No suspect information.

20000 Indian St. Entry through unlocked bedroom window.

Officers were dispatched to the 20000 Block of Indian St. (Group Home) for a report of a Home Invasion. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with one of the residents who advised sometime between 6:00pm- 9:00pm someone entered residence through an unlocked bedroom window and took several items from his bedroom. The suspect(s) also took several items from another resident that wasn’t present at time of reporting. No suspect information.

Victim states she parked her vehicle in front of residence in the 18000 Block of Adrian at 5:30pm. At 5:50pm she noticed her vehicle was missing. Victim was visiting with family and she presented her key fob for her vehicle. Unknown who took the vehicle. On 12/27/2019, Officer was dispatched to the 23000 Block of Merrill St. on reports of a suspicious unoccupied vehicle that had been parked in front of the address for a couple of days. Officer arrived on scene and discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Southfield and it was victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of recovery. The ignition was intact and there was no damage present on the vehicle. No suspect info.

R/P states her husband called her and informed her that their 2020 Silver Chevy Trax was stolen from their home in Warren, Mi. R/P checked the parking lot at her job to see if her vehicle was there and discovered that her Green 2004 Chevy Tahoe was taken as well. R/P states her brown leather purse was in her vehicle and its unknown what the relationship is with both of their vehicles being stolen. Victim contacted security and they pulled up video of incident. The video shows a Dark Colored SUV pull up next to R/P’s Tahoe; a subject gets out of the vehicle and gets into the Tahoe. Both vehicles drive off minutes later. Note: Warren PD recovered husband’s vehicle. (Chevy Trax) in Detroit. No further information.

On 12/23/2019, Officers responded to Market Business in the 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. A Retail Fraud that had just occurred. Upon arrival, Officers contacted the store owner who advised that suspect grabbed a Cognac Bottle of Liquor that was on display and left the store w/o paying for the merchandise. An employee followed suspect and the suspect threatened to kill employee and threw a water bottle at him striking him in the leg. The suspect fled towards Sargent St. He was described as a B/M 6'-0” wearing a black coat, brown shirt and black hat. A Southfield Police K-9 Unit responded to scene and conducted a K-9 track from the location of where the suspect was last seen to a residence in the 23000 Block of Sargent. Officer's learned from a witness that the suspect has stayed at the address in the past. The house is currently vacant. Officers located an open rear door that showed signs of forced entry. Prior to entering the residence, K-9 Officer gave three warnings that a K-9 was going to be released. There was no response. K- 9 Officer released his K-9 and the suspect was found hiding in the attic on the second floor of residence. Officers gave verbal commands for

suspect to exit the attic and he complied. The suspect was taken into custody w/o incident for Retail Fraud, A&B & Home Invasion. The bottle of Liquor that was stolen from business was recovered. It had been opened and some of the liquor had been consumed.

Victim states that suspect knocked on her hotel room door and asked for a cigarette. Victim let the suspect into her room. The suspect wanted her to come with him, she did not want to. She got him back outside and she shut the door. The suspect then broke out the window to her room and jumped in the room and took her cell phone and money and left out the door. The victim stated the suspect was a B/M in his 30s wearing all black around 6’-0” average build. That was all she could recall at the time.

Victim states he was at Fitness Center in the 28000 Block of Telegraph Rd. where he placed his gym bag containing his keys, wallet, a jacket and shoes in the locker room. He last saw these items at approx. 9:00pm. Victim returned approx. 30 minutes later and discovered the items missing. No suspect information.

19000 Melrose Ave. Status

A - Attacked Description

Suspect(s) Attempted to Take Home Air Conditioning Unit.

Officers were dispatched to the 19000 Block of Melrose Ave for a report of an air conditioning unit that had been disconnected from the home. There was a black metal cage that was previously bolted to the ground over the a/c unit that had been removed. The cage was unbolted from the ground and moved to the side away from the unit. The connections running from the house to the unit had all been cut and the unit was disconnected from everything. It appeared as if unknown suspects cut it free and were going to come back later to steal the a/c unit. Officers assisted the homeowner with moving and securing the a/c unit inside her garage. No suspect info.

4 Black Semi Batteries were taken from 2019 Freightliner Truck/

Victim states he parked his truck tractor in the East parking lot behind the building of business. Sometime between 12/26/2019 at 8:00pm & 12/27/2019 at 9:00am, someone stole all 4 batteries from his truck. The batteries were in a compartment under the driver's door. The truck was locked, but the compartment that stores the batteries was left unlocked. No suspect information.

❖ Thieves wait for the right time and will move quickly

❖ Even if playing sports at a park ensure your vehicle is locked

Officers were dispatched to Apartment Complex in the 25000 Block of Greenfield Rd. regarding an Attempt Armed Robbery Complaint. Officers spoke with female victim who stated she was in the rear parking lot around 6:00pm when she dropped her keys. After reaching down to pick up her keys, suspect approached her from behind. The male suspect placed a knife to her throat demanding her money, purse and keys. Victim refused to hand over anything to the suspect. Victim felt threatened and immediately kicked the suspect in the groan. The suspect backed off, called her several choice names and was last seen running N/B through the rear parking lot. Victim stated she got a good look at the suspect and believed the suspect to be a person who used to live in the complex.

Incident is under further investigation.

Be on the Look Out Highlights: Arrests by SPD Officers:

Special Attention: MDOP 12/24/2019 9:10am 27000 Block of Greenfield Rd. (Apartments) On 12/24/2019 Officers were dispatched to the 27000 Block of Greenfield Rd. on a report of MDOP. Upon arrival Officers observed the tail lights, side view mirrors, and all windows had been smashed out on victims 2012 Dodge Charger. Victim states he heard noise outside of his residence at approx. 7:30am. He looked out of his apartment window and observed 2- B/M’s MDOP his vehicle. Victim believes that the incident was set up by his ex-girlfriend and the two suspects are his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend and his brother. Suspects have been identified and incident is under investigation.

Special Attention: F/A with Knife/ Numerous Females involved in Fights. 12/24/2019 10:50am 25000 Block of Southfield Rd. (Salon) Several Officers were dispatched to the 25000 Block of Southfield Rd. on an assault complaint between several women from two different suites. Victim stated a former associate from high school walked past her in the hallway and she said hi to her. Victim stated the suspect walked past her and said, “What’s up Sis” and attacked her. Victim has no idea why she attacked her but she fought back. During the fight suspect struck victim in her right wrist with a pair of scissors, bit her in her right arm and punched her in the head. Other females and witnesses got involved in the melee and the suspects fled before Officers arrived. Officers completed their investigation and cleared the scene. Officers returned shortly thereafter on report of suspects returning and assaulting people in retaliation. A second victim was located that was assaulted and had several injuries. This victim stated she was knocked to the floor during the alleged assault and "stomped" on the head by a female wearing pink boots. She declined medical assistance. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician took photos of victim’s injuries and collected a doorbell ringer camera that had been broken off and discarded. Incident is under further investigation.

F/A with a Knife- 1- Arrest 12/23/2019 6:18pm 22000 Block of Telegraph Rd. (Market) On 12/23/2019, Officers responded to business reference a male suspect that pulled a knife on store employees. The store owner advised that the suspect was upset over the price of his beer and threatened to stab and shoot the owner. The suspect also threatened to kill the clerk. The suspect made these threats while holding an open knife. Officers responded to area and located the suspect walking in the parking lot near the 23000 Block of W 9 Mile Rd. After reviewing the stores surveillance video, the incident was confirmed and the suspect was taken into custody for F/A. The knife was recovered.

Special Attention: Larceny of Packages that were ordered and delivered via Common Carrier. How to prevent this from happening to you! Recently several citizens have had packages that were delivered to their residences and apartments stolen prior to them retrieving the packages. Citizens can prevent this from happening by scheduling a specific time to have the package delivered and be waiting for the package. Citizen can also schedule the package to be picked up by themselves at the common carrier facility. Receiving notification that your package has been delivered while you are at work or someplace else and nobody is at home is not a good scenario.

F/A Domestic/ MDOP/ A&B/ R&O/ Disorderly Conduct- 3- Arrests 12/25/2019 2:47pm 25000 Block of W Eight Mile Rd (Gas Station) Several Officers were dispatched to Gas Station in the 25000 Block of Eight Mile Rd. on a report of several people fighting in the parking lot. Upon arrival, Officers observed two males and two females fighting in the lot. One of the males was armed with a pole and was attempting to strike another male with the object. Officers separated the combatants and one of the males resisted Officers and assaulted a female that was handcuffed. Further investigation by Officers revealed that a physical altercation took place following a domestic dispute. The two males and one of the females were arrested on various charges and were lodged at the Southfield Jail. A Southfield Police Evidence Technician processed the scene and took photos of victim’s injuries. Detectives secured Complaint & Warrants on all three suspects.
